I always thougjt of faking an e-Harmony profile as a single, just to see who I might hook up with. I know I'm a sick puppy. But my wife wants to do the same thing too. You know you watch those commercials, and you think, could I do better than what I got. Tell me I'm lying.

Don't know if it was eHarmony or Match.com but yes - a friend of mine met a lady on one of those sites. They fell in love and were married after not too long of a period of knowing each other. He sold his house and bought a much larger house which she spent a lot of money refurnishing. He opened his home to her children (who weren't really younger kids - don't think the oldest was still in school) and became a dad to them (their father was not in picture) and they became a family. After maybe 5 years of bliss they are divorced, she got the house, and I believe he's paying alimony. (One moral of this story - get to know the person you are marrying well before the ceremony)

I've been divorced six years. Every time I signed up for one of these sites, I had a few dates then met someone outside the sites and began dating them. Happened at least 3-4x including right before my current girlfriend. Using online dating does expand the potential pool of dating partners beyond the usual circles of work, the gym, etc. and you can sift through literally 100s to 1,000s of of people.

Weird this topic came up...I have one friend who got sick of match.com after a lot of meaningless dates. He went onto Eharmony. 6 months later he was engaged! They are getting married this Summer (2nd time for both) in the South of France.

No, I don't. I know someone who met her spouse online through a chat room, married him six months later, and eventually found that he's a molester. He's 12 years into a 26-year sentence at a maximum-security facility.

I met my wife at church, got a lot of encouragement to get to know her from people who knew both of us well enough to see the potential. Not only were they right, but each of us knew the other's network of friends.

No matter what the even the most reputable dating services claim, I suspect that marrying a stranger is chancier than someone who's at least semi-known. But there are still risks.

Of course, Mrs. Astro and I are only at 11 years as of March, and the marriage keeps getting better, stronger, fuller, and deeper. What'll we be like at our 50th anniversary

My former roommate posted an ad on adultfriendfinder.com looking for a playmate. After three years of dating the gal he found, in October he moved out (owing me money) and into his girlfriend's apartment. I need a roommate and my former friend is whipped, if not married.

No such luck for me -- I'm still single and looking.

Should I give eHarmony a try?

Hey there sweet family,

One of my ex-brothers-in-law went the e-Harmony route and married the first woman he met w/i weeks. That was several years ago and I understand they're very happy.

btw, ladies, if you're single and looking to meet a zen-sational guy, HopHead's your guy! :-) (Rowland and I love you, Hoppy!)

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

A former co-worker tried the eHarmony thing for a while and did eventually find someone. They're married two years, now, and are still very happy.

My wife's sister met her husband via eHarmony.

They have been married for a few years now, one kid (almost one year old now) and they seem happy....

The founder appears to be legit, he's been married to the same woman for decades.

Cork and I met right here on this website. We will have been together 4 years tomorrow

I woman we used to work with met her husband on an online dating service - not sure if it was e-harmony or not - they have been together at least 10 years and have a beautiful daughter.

I met my wife on match.com . I was on it for a few months and met alot of women, some cool, some crazy...LOL!! Some good stories too. I was about to go off it but said I would play out these last 2 people I had corosponded with. Met for drinks and we talked for 4 hrs. A yr later I married her. Cant say anything bad about my experience online. It was fun while I did it, met a bunch of people and ultimately my best friend and partner

Que the music. Still waiting to be asked to do a commercial

Yes! It was someone I went to law school with over 20 years ago and she appeared on one of the early commercials for e-harmony--I couldn't believe it!!!
