I don't know the answer to your question. But I would recommend you go over to the Beat Gear Cavern forum, http://www.beatgearcavern.com , where the most knowledgeable Beatle fans in the world hang out. I'm sure someone there could answer the question off the top of their head...and absolutely anything else having to do with Beatles.

Massive Beatles Fan here. If you want to learn everything you can about the Beatles, I HIGHLY
recommend you go out and buy the THE BEATLES ANTHOLOGY 5-DVD set. The whole story
of the group is told in their own words (all four members) and there is footage from ALL points of
their career, they discuss EVERY album, plus special reunion footage of Paul, Ringo and George jamming at George's house.

Yes..You're correct. The TV version was heavily edited. The DVD version is much, much longer!
You won't regret buying it.

Hey there, Finally, we've some music in common. I grew up with the Beatles, was just a little kid when their "invasion" of the states took place. My father took great pride in making sure that I had every Beatles album the day it was released. Don't even know if he "approved" of them, just remember that we shared a love of music. I can remember coming home from a Little league game one Saturday afternoon and finding My Mother and about 6 or 7 of her Bridge playing group in the kitchen listening to my Beatles albums. I recall that it was like a "THIS.... is what my son listens to" ...session... pretty funny looking back.

Favorite Beatles album?... I love the early stuff, from "Magical mystery tour" back to "Meet the Beatles"...used to love the double tracking of George's voice on "Don't bother me"...

Me, too, I am a huge fan and have been reading alot of Beatles books lately. I enjoyed "Revolution in MY Head" which discusses all the nuiances of each and every Beatles song, who wrote what part, who played what, etc. fascinating book. I also recommend George Martin's book "The making of Sgt. Peppers". This also is an indepth lookaing at the recording of that epic lp. The last one is Goeff Emericks book "Here there and Everywhere". Goeff was the recording engineer of the Bealtes stuff from Rubber Soul on and he gives a very interesting account of the recording techniques used on all those lps....

Good God, that DVD box set is VERY LONG. One thing you'll really enjoy is the "Special Features" DVD.(DVD #5)
It includes:
1. Recollections 1994 (includes interviews and the three remaining Beatles jamming together).
2. Compiling the Anthology Albums (interviews with Paul, George, Ringo and George Martin)
3. Back at Abbey Road (Returning to Studio 2, Paul, George, Ringo and George Martin reflect on
recording Golden Slumbers, I'm Only Sleeping and Tomorrow Never Knows).
4. Recording "Free as A Bird" and "Real Love"
5. Making the "Free as a Bird" Video
6. "Real Love" Video

Do they allow tours of the Abbey Road studios to see where they recorded?

To digress - have any of you Beatles fans heard the two CDs of tunes by the Smithereens?
One CD is titled, "Meet the Smithereens" and the other is "Smithereens Play Beatles B-Sides" (something like that). I received both discs as Christmas gifts. These are great covers - pretty true to the originals with no real "left turns" or anything. I'll bet the Smithereens had a blast recording this stuff!

There is also a coffee table book version Anthology. I haven't seen the DVD, but there was much more covered in the book than on TV, so I am guessing they are similar.
Great reference, fun to read.

got the new Lennon bio for the holidays, haven't started it yet but it will be next

Did someone say Beatles

Plenty of fans here.

Lots of bootleg material too! I have a Anthology Director's cut that is 10 dvds. It is the footage before they cut it down for the official release.

Huge fan here too. Have to agree that the ANTHOLOGY dvd and book are must-have's. There are some other great books too, but be careful, because many get facts mixed up or claim myths to be true...

There are some pretty cool podcasts out there, but none that I absolutely reccommend without having done the ANTHOLOGY first. I have watched the 10 hr (dvd) version several times. We've thrown a couple "ANTHOLOGY PARTIES" to get people together to watch it.

No, they don't offer tours..but you can book studio time there.. I'm sure for a hefty fee.
My friend did get to go in with the Fab Faux (Beatles tribute band) who were recoding there. He took a home video.. was so cool. still same instruments, like piano and even same chairs that were there when Beatles were recording.
