We just hit 200 inches of snow so far this season. Last season our total was 209 inches. The people north of me have even more. (Personally, I think we're nuts for living here. LOL)
I've shoveled my roof 4 times already. And there's still 5 feet of snow on the garage.
The snow banks are so high I had to crank up the throttle on the snow-blower just to keep the snow from avalanching back onto the driveway. There's a snowmobile buried in the yard that I won't see 'till spring. LOL
I can't see through my windows. (not kidding)

Mark lives in the Tug Hill area.

North of Syracuse, they get the full brunt of the Lake Effect snow off Lake Ontario.

When Syracuse gets 7" of snow, they get two feet.

Syracuse has already gotten its yearly average, and we typically get 58 MORE inches by the end of the season.

Better keep digging for that other snowmobile, you may need it.

Heh heh.

Yes, it is insane. Today it was 55 here in Charlotte, NC and yestrerday it was over 60-as warm as most of California and Texas....the only place warmer was Florida.

Every day in winter I Thank God for the chance to move here from Milwaukee back in '05....I just can't imagine how I survived all those midwestern (gray/overcast for months) winters. I remember back in the early '80s when the temp was -28 (without wind chill) in Chicago.....good luck folks.

I don't need to tell y'all that Mark is in the really blue part, do I?

I'm in the 50-60" band, but we haven't had that little in many, many years.

OMG Mark!!! I will no longer complain about the 'piddly' snow here in Middle Earth (that's probably a lie ) Anytime you have to shovel your roof??? you're talking major snowfall!

I'm with you, Deb. Minnesota can be pretty unpleasant in winter, but that's just nuts. I've never known anyone to be unable to use their snowmobile because they couldn't find it! Mostly, we just complain if there isn't enough snow to use them, which happens quite often.
I think we have NY beat on the cold thing, though, if there's any pleasure in comparing miserableness factors.
Is there anybody on here from North Dakota? I would bow to them in respect for the true misery they endure.

I'm with Deb and you! Northern Iowa had had a lot more than where Deb is, but nowhere near Upstate New York! I think we have had about 50" so far this year, with about a foot left on the ground. We've had 1 day that hit 30 degrees in January. So not much melting.

I moved from Madison to NYC a few years ago, and while it still gets cold here, it's nothing compared to a wisco winter. NYers are pretty wussy when it comes to weather, especially considering we get a little warmth from the atlantic - if it's snowing in Westchester county, it's probably just raining in Brooklyn and the skyline cuts the wind down in half. Hell, it felt 20 degrees colder when I was in DC last saturday than it did here. And even when it does snow, the foot and car traffic usually obliterate the snow within a day. Still, it's the only cold weather city I will ever live in again. NYC is that great, when are they going to build another one in Florida?

I experienced snow in Syracuse once (lake effect). I was up for the Cleveland Plant and Flower show at a local hotel there a couple years back. I stayed across the highway at another cheaper hotel. Man, it snowed the whole time I was there. I had one of those rooms that had a door to the outside and hallway. The first morning I headed out the outside door. Busted my @$$ as soon as my foot hit the snow. I found out the snow is much slicker up there too...........It was up to the side of the car when I dug out and headed south.

This southern fellow loved it though.........

The snowfall hasn't been so bad, it's the ice. I've been iced in since Monday. 2 inches on the road now, and haven't seen the temperature go over 25 in 2 weeks. The low will be 8 tonight.
