Hey there sweet family,

Five years ago Butch Trucks had a vision of how the Internet could bring the live concert experience into people's homes around the world, expanding the audience of a live concert to many thousands of music-loving fans.

But this would be more than just another streaming video service that didn't care about the content itself – it would be an extended community that felt that same magical bond that comes over a crowd during that roar of approval after a soaring solo.

Butch's vision was right on – but the technology at the time was limited, and it has taken enormous patience and persistence to get to the point where the experience could match the dream – but now, (sfx: huge drum roll!!) sisters and brothers, Moogis has arrived!!!

Moogis offers its subscribers streaming video access to entire live concerts, both in real time and on-demand from its archives. Moogis.com is the gathering place for its subscribers, a social website where you can create your own profile, join discussion groups, hang out with like-minded folks and share the communal experience that music inspires. The site doesn't have a drum circle yet, but who knows...

All this is coming together in time for the Allman Brothers Band’s historic 40th anniversary run at the Beacon Theatre in New York City . Tickets to the ABBeacon have always sold out and never has that been more obvious than this year when thousands of true fans have struggled with ticket purchases. Struggle no more, Peach Corps - subscribe to Moogis today and you’ll always have the best seat in the house for this truly epic music event!

Start the next great concert experience of your life by heading to Moogis.com and subscribing to get:

*EVERY 2009 Allman Brothers Band Beacon run concert live and on-demand!

*Dozens of on-demand video concerts and scores of audio concerts available right now!

*Full Moogis until 9/30/09 only $100 until 2/15/2009 and $125 thereafter.

Again, your new concert home sweet home is: Moogis.com

See you there!

Please also be sure to check Moogis out in the social graph where you can connect with other Moogis fans, discuss and share great content, and be the first to know about new events, videos and other cool stuff as soon as it’s available!

Gimme a group high five, Moogis has arrived! Whooo hooo!

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana and Rowland - with a special shout out to Butch, "Whoo Hoo! You did it!" ((BT))

I'm in already and that it lasts until 9-30-09 is a nice surprise.

If I can figure out how to make my computer display through the TV, most anyone can.

Let's all Moogi down!

I just signed on yesterday. I watched a little bit of the videos already there and liked what I saw..esecially the Piedmont Park show. I attended that show, but was positioned so far back I could not make out actual humans on stage for the ABB daylight performance.

Thanks to Moogis I can now SEE a recorded version of what I only heard live back at that show. Cool!

Can't wait for the Beacon. I have the last 3 shows so far, and plan to try for any additional shows if they materialize. I'll watch the ones I don't attend, real time, and review the ones I did attend when I return home.

Sweeeeet!!

I'm not Brock but no, Ruthie - it's audio and visual! There is a great little taste of the Piedmont show that can be viewed via your computer for free from the Moogis site that demonstrates what concerts will be like on Moogis.

I think Butch pronounces it on a video there. I was pronouncing it like Moo-jis, but he pronounced it Moo - Gis, like get - a hard G sound.

Hi Ruth, you will need to look at your computer to see what it has to hook up another monitor. On my work laptop, I have an S-video out port, so I plugged that cable in and into my TV in port. On my machine to make to picture go to the TV, I press Fn and F8 simultaneously and voila the laptop screen goes on the TV.

For audio on my laptop, a cable plugs into the headphone jack on the laptop and then there is a red/white plug can go into the audio in plugs on the TV, or better yet, a receiver. I bought that cable today at radio shack for $9.

So take a look at your computer and see what the specs are for audio and video outs. It's not too bad, though my room has a bird's nest of wires right now!

Hello,

Would very much appreciate some technical info about the stream before signing up please.

1. Just how much compression is being added to the stream when it will go out?

2. I believe the stream is supposed to be about 500K? If that is correct, how much of the 500k will be apportioned for audio?

3. Will the stream resemble the Piedmont Park sample that is up. I cannot seem to locate any other previews? Is this preview exactly representaive of what the final stream will be like?

Thanks - would appreciate anyone with actual technical knowledge about this to respond.
: )

Hey Billy, this was posted by Butch over on Moogis...

Stream will be 500k over flash player. We experimented with many different stream speeds and several players. Once we got above 500k it really didn't matter what equipment we used. Unless we had a very stable 1.5m cable or something like this we had serious problems with buffering. The difference in picture quality between 500k and 1meg was minimal and the problems with buffering and lag were huge. As of this point in time we feel that this is going to offer the best quality and most stable stream for the vast majority of users with any typpe of broadband connection. Hopefully by next year we'll be able to go 1.25meg and deliver full HD. We tried but this is state-of-the-art March, 2009.

You may be surprised at how much better it looks on your TV. I was. I don't find it "blocky" but in full screen mode on my 30" monitor it looks good but is a bit pixilated around the edges. I hooked up my laptop using an s-vid connection to my 65" 1080i and it looked very good. It is not HD and I will not ever say it is. It is, however, as good as many tv shows and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the shows. The sound is CD quality so hook it up to your stereo, or surround sound system and crank it up. We will have a video sample of one of the better looking videos from the collection inside. I would suggest that if you have any doubts about whether your system will give you an enjoyable experience you hook up and give it a run. If you like it then you will like the Beacon. The sample will probably be up tomorrow on the subscribe page. As for the sound that is only going to be as good as the engineer mixing it. We're bringing in the engineer that has been doing the "Instant Live" mixes for the last few years. If you like them you'll like this. He's got us down by now.

One other point. Even though the stream will be sent at 500k. The people at On Stream (they are doing the encoding and internet streaming) tell me that connections as low as 250-300K should be able to run the shows with very few, if any, problems. I guess the best thing to do is try the test run and see.

Posted this in the Moogis forums, but thought I'd put these Q's here too.

Re:Ask questions here
17 Minutes ago Karma: 0
I have watched a few vids and am getting this: "Error: NetStream buffer has remained empty past timeout threshhold." It's in a black band across the top of the screen. It looks like a Moogis error code, not my computer's code. Anyone have an idea? I have Flash 10 installed.

Also, when I press Fn/F8 to return the screen from the TV to the computer, that knocks me off the internet sometimes. Any advice appreciated. Is there any way to start an archived show mid-way? The Moogis buttons do not operate to FF to a place ahead, which would be a help when I get knocked off.

On a more positive note, I have now run the audio through my receiver and the sound is fantastic. Overall, I'm pleased.
