I was just wondering how you all feel about people standing up and dancing at a concert . Does it bother you as much as people not staying at their seats?

I sit in the loge at the Beacon for just that reason. I don't like someone standing up in front of me. Most of the time they aren't even dancing. They are just standing.

Tough call on that one. If you are dancing and obstructing someone's view and they ask you to sit, I say sit. I wish venues had a specific area just for dancing.
At the Mule show here in November, there was some dudes a few seats down from us that stood and did their little wasted-guy dance the entire show. We were in the 3rd row of the balcony and the entire balcony was sitting, except for these three amigos. The guys behind them were eff'n them all night, but it didn't matter, they just said eff you back and kept standing/weaving/hopping.
I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but if they were in front of me I most certainly wouldn't have tolerated their antics and would have had a serious face to face with them.

It is a tough one . Music and dancing go hand & hand . When the place really starts rock'in how can you not get up to boogie...

I dance. Sometimes you just can't help it. I usually try to head to the back or the sides of a venue so I'm not in anyone's way. And if someone in front of me stands up, I usually stand up too.

I can dance pretty good in my seat. I follow everyone else's lead...........If everyone is up dancing I am too. If everyone is sitting, I' ll dance in my seat.

Loves music, loves to dance! (I do try to be respectful of others, though, if it seems to be an issue. )

I am one of those who shake their butts while sitting and tapping feet.

I love to watch the dancers. Some of them are very amusing and a little nuts.
I wouldn't want someone dancing right in front of me.

In the list of concert horribles, this comes in dead last. It does not bother me in the least since it means the standers are into the show and I can hear it just fine. I guess it helps that I'm tall and have no physical issues preventing me from standing and seeing over those in front. Plus, standers provide good cover for extracurriculars whilst seated!

I'm ok with it, especially if it's a group off to the side or something. What I'm not ok with was the guy at Christmas Jam down on the floor toward the back who was dancing the whole time, but didn't wear a belt and every time he moved his butt crack was showing.

It's rock n roll, not chamber music

for myself, I try to fit in with the crowd - if everyone's up, then I get up and dance. If everyones seated, I boogie in my seat.

and yea, talkers are the worst

Seated venues people generally get mad. I'm specifically thinking of a certain incident with a boring crowd at a great Derek Trucks Band + Susan Tedeschi Band double bill after I had a few bourbons at the bar. And in retrospect I can kinda understand that feeling in these 'sit down venues'; though I still can't comprehend who thought it was a good idea to put such great music inside in such an environment

All being said and done, I don't really give a hoot how old and fat I get or how stupid I look. If the vibe's there, I'm pushin' down into the area where it's cool to get down.

Dancing is an entirely appropriate behavior when music is played.
