A nation of burger flippers is better than a nation of booger flickers.

But for less than the $5 or $6 a meal at McDonald's cost, I can cook up a pretty good meal at home. I like to eat out in nice restaurants, but it is crazy to spend that kind of money today. So I cook at home and try to avoid the fast food junk.

I'm torn between trying to be frugal and cook my own meals, and helping the economy by eating out at inexpensive diners occasionally. If we all stop eating out, more jobs will be lost and business will close.

Bloody Monday: More than 50,000 jobs lost!

Six companies announce massive job cuts in a scary start to the week.

http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/26/news/economy/job_cuts/index.htm?postversion =2009012614

Consider how many dependents were covered under those workers' health insurance plans, and that's a whole lotta people now uninsured!

That's a whole lot of houses that might be foreclosed on in a few months, too.

McMurtry should cahnge that song from "Can't Make it Here No More" to "DON'T Make It Here No More"!

Whose gonna buy the burgers? Whose gonna pay the taxes?

Rescued Citigroup Shelling Out $50M for Corporate Jet

quote:
Beleaguered Citigroup is upgrading its mile-high club with a brand-new $50 million corporate jet -- only this time, it's the taxpayers who are getting screwed.

Even though the bank's stock is as cheap as a gallon of gas and it's burning through a $45 billion taxpayer-funded rescue, the Citigroup's execs pushed through the purchase of a new Dassault Falcon 7X, according to a source familiar with the deal.

The French-made luxury jet seats up to 12 in a plush interior with leather seats, sofas and a customizable entertainment center, according to Dassault's sales literature. It can cruise 5,950 miles before refueling and has a top speed of 559 mph.

There are just nine of these top-of-the-line models in the United States, with Dassault's European factory churning out three to four 7Xs a month.

Citigroup decided to get its new wings two years ago, when the financial-services giant was flush with cash, but it still intends to take possession of the jet this year despite its current woes, the source said.

I doubt that their execs will be dining on burgers while on board!

And since it only seats 12, I doubt the rank and file will be using it much.

And $50,000,000 sent off to France sure doesn't do anything for our economy!

Then they'd be able to fly on their own and wouldn't need a corporate jet...

CNN update:

Over 71,400 jobs lost.

Must equate to over 100,000 left without health care coverage!
