I just think its an amazing recording. All of them are, but I cant stop playing this one.

I LOVE their take on Dylans Down in the Flood. A+ on that one.

Following that (tracks 2 through 6) are some A minuses, B plusses, B minuses, etc. All very good, but not as good as what follows. (7-12)

I think this album finishes EXCEEDINGLY strongly. From "Our Love" (track 7) all the way to the end its nothing but A+ on every one. Maybe A+++ on a few!

To my ears this album finishes with a simply amazing sequence of the last 6 songs.

Have to say my favorite track right now is the one Susan sings, "Back where I started".

"D"

It's a very strong album. I think I've listened to it about 6 or 7 times through now, and it keeps getting better.

Great Record. Listened to it also about 5 times already and just cant get enough. Fave tracks... Get What You Deserve, Down dont bother Me, Something to make you happy, sweet inspiration.. oh hell, its just easier to say im not crazy about the 2 Doyle songs but the rest of the record is pure joy to my ears. Great job Derek. The bar is definitely set at an all time high now. Outstanding. Peace.

I know, I LOVE this album. I have "Already Free" on a constant loop around me ever since it came in the mail. I'm even listening to it right now

Derek & the guys should be happy with their wonderful accomplishment with this album & the strong direction that they have taken.
It is so great to see a well put together album coming from a band in this day & age that has depth & layers to it.
Thanks for feeding this Sister's soul, Derek Trucks Band.
I will see you soon in Cincinnati on 2/12

yes, it's become the soundtrack of our household as well...this week. And, rob, I agree - they're all great, I'm just not used to hearing Doyle sing (w/dTb) and don't prefer it. But, YES, a GREAT album!!!

I'm loving this one, too! 8-) Have had in in constant rotation in my car player since I picked it up a week ago! Looking forward to hearing some live takes on some of these tunes when I see DTB next month and debating whether or not I can part with it for a couple of days to give my concert going partner a taste of this new stuff (which I will - like it too much not to share!).

It's just so musical. It's odds-on fave for my album of 2009 already. Can't see anything else come close (unless an ABB studio album emerges!) and I say that knowing an Elvis Costello/T-Bone Burnette album is due .

I listened twice and promptly put it in my storage rack.

Probably won't pull it out for several months...this is common for me. I don't want to overdo it and I just love "rediscovering" it down the road.

Did the same thing with "Hittin' The Note"

Works for me, your mileage may vary.

Definately a solid album...but,I much prefer Susan's "Back To The River"....That,& Jeff Beck's "Live At Ronnie Scott's" are the two best cd's i've bought so far this year.

I didn't like some of the tunes on the first few listens. All of a sudden everything clicked this week and I'm hearing things I didn't early on. This album is fantastic. Give a few spins if you don't like at first. It will grow on you.

It's a really good album, but I just wish Mike would have sang on all of the tracks. Not that Doyle's voice is bad, I just prefer Mike.

It's big fun, especially with the "complete" album.

Although I liked it all from the first time I listened to it, it's one of those albums that sounds better with each play.

12 thumbs up!

It's a really interesting album. I don't see anything as stunning as this sky or Joyful Noise, but I haven't found anything I want to skip either, where the previous projects had a couple of things that just never clicked, even if you could see the technical skill. Right now this and the new years eve show are in my changer-don't see any changes anytime soon

D28guy, I agree. I also really like the last half of the album much more than the first half (even though i think the whole thing is quite stellar). The more I listen to it the more I like it! can't wait for the Rochester show!!!!!!!!!

Upon further review, and several spins of the album today....I friggin' love every tune. Even the Doyle-sung tunes.

Derek's body of work continues to evolve....jeez, he's only 29. God willing, we'll have him for another 60 years!

'Makes me wonder what Duane could have done, given the chance...

doyle's tracks are good. it's his voice that I'm not crazy about. But the music and Derek's solos on them are great.
