I was there to witness history in the making
I couldn't believe it and I get goosebumps now
thinking about it.
As Gregg said, "we're authorized" or something
to that affect.

Oh EXCELLENT. I LOVED when that song was in the rotation.

~~~~~~~~~~~
How many times did they do this song? Not many. But this was the first time and I was there too.
Nice that this little ditty is out. Can't wait for Moogis.
I know they played it earlier during this Beacon Run. I heard them play Laya only one other time in Atlanta and I believe it was the same year... not sure.
I was at this gig too. There wasn't a dry eye in the audience at the end. It was magical. We were right in front of Oteil
My office manager just asked my why I'm crying.....
So many emotions.....the correct date is 3/14/03.
Butch went into the old GB before Beacon '02 and asked for suggestions for tunes.
I replied that, now that the personnel were in place, how about Layla as a tribute to Duane and Tom Dowd. He replied that it was a great idea and he would take it to the band. Don't know if it had any effect, I like to think it did.
I was there a week later. I look back at the wreck my world was at the time, remember how the weekend renewed my spirit.
What would life be without Duane Allman?
I first saw Derek in Charlotte that year and Layla was the encore. I was absolutely blown away and had tears in my eyes at the end of it. That is still the best version of it in my opinion.
