Well, what did you all think of it, what did you like, not like, what impressed you most?

Pretty impressive. You don't see that many men in hats very often!

This is a great day for the country, and for the world. Out with the old, in with the new. I don't think I can grasp how good it must feel to people of African heritage, but I know how good it feels to me. I have't been as happy about a new president taking office in my life, and everything I've seen of Obama so far tells me he is the man for the job. Time will tell, but today is a happy day in America.

I thought President Obama did a fine job on his speech, he was focused, he was passionate and purposeful. It was a very different type of speech than other President's have given. The tone of other President's was more like an acceptance speech, but Barack spoke to the people as one of the people. He eloquently paid homage to the founders of this country, not only their struggle, but the struggles of all our ancestors.

Chief Justice Roberts did Obama a great disservice when Obama took the oath. Chief Justice did not pause appropriately and use short sentences which he should have done. This resulted in the mishap that occurred during the oath. Obama took it in stride and did not let it bother him with his subsequent speech.

Reverend Lowery's speech was the last one and the best one seeking to unify everyone.

Reverend Rick Warren's speech as also quite good. Elizabeth Alexander's poem was different than expected but thought provoking.

I did not like what Aretha did. There was nothing wrong with how she sung it, it was fine. I just did not like the style of the song. I expected something in a more gospel style. Her hat and attire were nice. Total class.

Michelle Obama's outfit was very nice also. Bright, hopeful, but not over the top. Totally appropriate.

George Bush looked sad, almost like he was going to cry. Nancy Pelosi has a beautiful coat, and Diane Feinstein did a perfect job as the narrator.

The invocation by the pastor was beautiful. Great sincere heart felt praying!

Saw the swearing in - missed the speech, will catch it later.

My favorite part of it - that it actually happened.

Has anyone else noticed that he has been introduced as "President Barack H. Obama" for everything?..."H"...

Interesting choice.

This is me exactly. I have 7 hrs of DVR coverage waiting on me to pour over tonight! But I had to watch the swearing live, just so I could really believe it had happened. It's been a long cold lonely winter....

Everything except the oath of office, in which they used Hussein in full as per Obama's instructions.

pretty much SOP; John F Kennedy, Richard M Nixon, Gerald R Ford, etc

Pretty cool seeing all the former presidents, presidential candidates, former vp candiates, etc, all mingling together. Everyone seems to be well aware they are first-hand witnesses to history being made.

Senator Ted Kennedy had began having a seizure at the luncheon. He was at the table with Senator Carey and Walter Mondale. They took him down to the 1st floor Medical area, he reportedly did not stop seizing even while there. President Obama went down to see what was going on, as did Senators Hatch, Dodd, Carey. They then took Ted Kennedy out in an ambulance. President Obama did ask for a moment of silent prayer when he returned to the luncheon. Walter Mondale accompanied Ted Kennedy to the ambulance and said that he was okay and doing better. The feeling is that he was just exhausted. John Carll a reporter reported that Senatory Ted Kennedy was breathing oxygen before going out on the Podium before the swearing in ceremony of Barack Obama and when he (Senator Kennedy) left the podium he went back on oxygen; so he was very exhausted even before the luncheon but he did not want to miss this historic moment.

Most of you know my political leanings by now. I've got to tell you though, that it feels GOOD to finally get the transition finished and to be moving forward. I can only imagine how good it feels for the Obama backers.

I hope he does a good job, and hope above all that he will be thinking on the fly and be willing to flex as the current conditions move along. I feel pretty confident he will do that, even at the risk of upsetting some in his own party.

Personally, I would be in favor of moving up the inauguration date some. I don't see the purpose in a two-month waiting period. It's basically two more months where nothing gets done. Seemed like a lot longer than two months.
