I had three seperate reservations and they canceled all of them!!! I booked there because of the upset with the Beacon Hotel but now I am so annoyed so I decided to book at the Beacon Hotel. I talked to them (Beacon) about it and they said it could be because I had a few reserved but what difference does that make if I were to come in three seperate times for shows?? There was no manager available so I could find out why for sure. The Beacon hotel is all caught up on saftey codes, fire codes and whatever codes they can think of because booking online doesn't allow you to book a Suite for more than two adults!! Huh??? Even the lady who helped me said it is stupid but was able to override it to get me a Suite for four adults. Anyone else have this trouble?

Sorry Sue. You'd think they would have called you first to discuss whatever issue they had.

In 07, I reserved a Milburn smoking room and on arrival they told me they had no smoking rooms for me. I then had no qualms smoking it up in the room they gave me. As Seinfeld said, "anybody can take reservations, it's keeping them that is important."

I do plan on talking to the manager tomorrow but still. I have never had this issue before and I know many friends here who are holding multiple nights at the Milburn also.

Milburn screwed me over a few years ago. I cancelled my room via the web cuz that was the way I reserved it and they said it wasn't the "proper" way to cancel so they charged me. I don't like the Milburn....

They charged you to cancel??? Right now I don't like them either and I never even stayed there!

Yep... I even spoke to the manager. I cancelled WEEKS before my reservation too. If you reserve the room via the web, you have to call them to cancel even though there was a cancellation option when you viewed your reservation on-line.

I would have told my credit card company that there's a dispute about to happen and not to pay for it. That is not cool at all and I'm sorry that happened to you. Sheesh!

Susea, I believe JodyGirl had the same problem last year when the Beacon run got cancelled. I think they have an issue with reserving several weekends that you might then cancel, but that stinks. As you said, what if you're going to be there all 3 weekends?

BTW, how did they cancel your reservations? Via phone or the web? After what happened to Helen, I would think they would call you.

Check out On the Ave. That's where Helen and Nancy and I are staying.

They canceled via the web. In the morning I will call them and play nice but I will also call my credit card company to be sure I wasn't charged too.

You ladies are "On The Ave" are you?! Well then I will take a look. Thanks Terri!

Isn't it interesting that Helen could not cancel a reservation via the web, but they can cancel YOUR reservation that way?

I have a room reserved there for the 26th-28th, but I'm going to cancel it. I better call them!

I like "on the avenue" I've stayed there as often as I've stayed in the beacon.

I am staying with them again this time.

I just checked "On The Ave" they are doing the same thing that the Beacon Hotel is and only allowing 2 adults in the rooms. Probably if you call it will work but the price is $324 for the Suite which is the same as the Beacon. Got some phone calling to do in the morning!

Here's another hotel nearby I know some friends stayed at in the past http://www.hotelbelleclaire.com/ Never went in to see it but the pricing actually looks pretty good.

Holy Crow, Sue! Just getting online before beddy bye, and I see this!

That's not cool at all...Now ya got me worried! I did the same thing, reserving a few weekends for the Run at the Milburn, and cancelled the last weekend in March. I should still have two weekends reserved, and hopefully NO charge for the cancelled weekend. It is so far in advance, so I don't see what problem it might cause. I, too, cancelled online.

Their phones will be a ringin' tomorrow, I reckon...

The Belleclaire did that to me 4 or 5 years ago, but the only way I found out was when I called several weeks later to confirm and add a night. THe person who answered said there was no record of me in the system. I think that's B.S., and those of us who book far enough in advance at discount rates get cancelled when demand is higher than anticipated and they know they can get higher dollar if they cancel you out and let someone else book the room at a higher rate. I think they figure it's very unlikely anyone will challenge them to re-accommodate at another hotel (which I believe they are legally obligated to do). In any event, the lesson learned that year is that I ALWAYS call to confirm again a week or two before I leave, with a confirmation print-out ready to go at the fax machine if they try pulling that shiite. And I check-in as early as I can when I get there, so it's someone else's problem in the event they are overbooked. Hotels overbook just like the airlines do.

Sorry to hear this, Sue! I have multiple reservations at Milburn but have not had them cancel any and in fact sent an email requesting something (email was answered and addition to the reservation made) . I did cancel one reservatioin myself online with no trouble and have done this in past without difficulty or charge against my account. They have treated me well in past and accomodated last minute requests and calls to the desk. Hoping I don't run into the problems you've described this year!

Talked to the manager this morning and he said that one of my reservations was booked twice and because I had canceled one of them (like a week ago) I got bumped out of the system. He went on to say a lot more BS and believe me I was more than nice and explained the uncertain time frame we would be there, etc.

I do not like the way they do business. I had made a reservation at the Beacon Hotel last night so I'm just going to stay there at this point.
