According to online sources, for the Beacon shows, Clapton is very likely and Dickey is a BIG FAT NO. Some other names being tossed around include Boz Scaggs (of course) and Aretha Franklin (OMG). See below:

About EC, from both Gregg and Derek:

Eric Clapton and Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon Theatre 2009?

Updated 4 November 2008: Interview with Gregg Allman:

Q: What are you planning for the 40-year anniversary shows?

A: We're trying to get everybody we ever played with together. Have them all bring their whole band, different opening act every night. Got an e-mail into Clapton and he e-mailed back: "No matter how hard I have to bend, it would be an honour" -- "honour" with a "u." He's a nice guy. He should bring [Steve] Winwood with him.

On 2 November 2008 Derek Trucks was interviewed before his concert with the Derek Trucks Band at University of Buffalo Center for the Arts. 2009 will mark the 40th anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band. About their annual Beacon Theatre Run in 2009 Derek said the following:

One of the ideas is to have some of the musicians sit in with us that played with DUANE ALLMAN over the years, people that influenced him and people that he influenced. The band is reaching out to artists like ERIC CLAPTON, ARETHA FRANKLIN and BOZ SCAGGS, obviously scheduling will play a part in it but even if half the musicians can share in the event it should be pretty amazing.

About Dickey:

(from http://www.bestofwny.com/nightlife/ )

Ross CAT-The rumor mill is churning that artists like ERIC CLAPTON, ARETHA FRANKLIN and BOZ SCAGGS will join in the celebration of the ALLMAN BROTHERS music as well as honoring founding member your late great brother DUANE ALLMAN. Is there any chance during the 40th anniversary tour that DICKEY BETTS will be welcomed back to perform with the band if even for just one night?

GREGG ALLMAN- There is no chance that DICKEY BETTS will ever be involved with anything to do with the ALLMAN BROTHERS Band; we’ve been down that road too many times and it just wouldn’t work.

And there you have it.

I'd love it if she strolled out in her "Half Breed" outfit!! OMG! And, to put further spin on it, maybe spraks could fly between them again - after all Gregg now single again and so is Cher, hmmmm....

Could you imagine ARETHA??????????????????????????? WOW! Now THAT I would love to see!

Admit it.

If you were at the beacon and Cher came out it would cause a stir.

I think they should do a duet on I'm No Angel.

Maybe Warren can borrow one of her costumes.

He tends to dress a bit on the drab side of fashion.

Peach Master schnele, I see you have dug up some articals. Now which one do we believe. You failed to post where Gregg answered that same question with the answer every body is every body. So, what you are saying, only makes the flame higher for this to happen. Sorry you did not put it to rest. I see you take pride in being a trouble maker. That is great, On this one you got to eat your own shi*, You should know that Gregg says a lot of things and then goes in the opposit direction. You tried but failed. Got anything else?

Reddog, why so serious? Considering all that has been said and done, it seems like it would be a huge long shot if Dickey made an appearance. Also, I don't think the original poster was "making trouble" rather than trying to quell it. The perception for a lot of fans is it is better to just let it go and let Dickey and the others work it out among themselves. These endless posts about Dickey are not only futile in the fact that it almost certainly has no effect on how the band goes about making such decisions, but just seem bring up bad blood - your post being a prime example of that. No harm or offense meant but just pointing out that I doubt the original post was intended to "cause trouble".

.....having said all that....what about CHER??

RD...she posted the link to the article quoting Gregg that there is no chance Dickey will ever do anything involved with the Allman Brothers Band again. What didn't she do to quell the rumors?

RedDog - The original poster is probably the FURTHEST thing from a trouble maker than anyone I know. And I do know and love her. I will say this - she is PASSIONATE (like most of us here) about the music she loves, and does much research on same. You can have your opinion as to one article versus another, or whether or not these rumors are true or false. I am not speaking about the content here - you are just soooo off base on your statement about Schnelle personally.

Can't we just love each other?

Cher......lol

All I can say is thank God for Moogis!

I plan to see several shows, but I know there are going to be guests that I'll be kicking myself for missing.

Clapton and Cher on the same night.

So, how long have the Clapton rumors been around the ABB? When I was 16 yrs old, in Staten Island, November 27 1971..I was "hanging out" with friends when a friend of mine comes up and says..Hey, the Allman Brothers Band is playing at the Ritz Theater (in Staten Island) and since Duane just died (only a month earlier!) everyone is talking that Eric Clapton is going to show up to take Duane's place. So, we all high tail it to buy tickets (right before the show!) get great seats! First time I saw the band. Of course, no EC. But the band without Duane, still blew me away...! Huge fan ever snce! and now going to the Beacon for two shows and who do we hear is going to come by? I'm going to enjoy the show, like I did the first time, without Eric.

let it be.........we got Derek and Warren > enuff pls.

but if I were a bettin' man I'd think Slowhand is a strong possibliity and the red guitar is not.

it will be the other guests that will make this show special anyway for me at least.

please > this whole in-FAT-uation with Betts and Clapton is displaced totally > both are great players with YUGE impact but this band needs no props on lead guiitar.......please?? = a third time.

opening with In A Silent Way at some point again........yeah!

It's not going to be bad if neither show up. They will still be great shows.

However, imagine the tension on day if Dickey were to walk out on stage and make eye contact with Gregg. It was like that weird moment when Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth embraced at the press conference a couple of years ago.

Like I said in the other thread, Dickey has a chance to be there, hopefully he got his pre-sale password.

Now, if Clapton was there, I'd love to see them run through all the songs on the Layla album that Duane played on. That would be amazing to see.

WharfRat asked. Laura you causing trouble again, she replied, I take pride in it. So please spar me the good girl thing. She could be a great person. Hope so. She said what she said. I don't care about Articles. Never have never will. Brother Gregg does speak with a forked tongue. Take it like you want to. I see things a lot different than most of you. I know these people real well. You do not.
