http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/top_33_bar_songs

Some of these are great choices, but some make you go HUH?
I watched this, and they went to a few taverns in NYC and were asking people
what songs they like to hear/sing in a bar. I would have to say I dont think I saw 1 person who was even remotely sober. Not that its a bad thing

33 Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen (BRUUUUCE!!!)
32 Song 2 - Blur (who?)
31 Roxanne -The Police (classic)
30 Tubthumping -Chumbawamba (some kill it please!!)
29 Take This Job And Shove It -Johnny Paycheck (sing it everyday )
28 It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) R.E.M. (one of the few songs I like from these guys)
27 Come On Eileen -Dexys Midnight Runners ( Im gonna be sick)
26 Smells Like Teen Spirit -Nirvana (overrated)
25 Jamming - Bob Marley
24 Bust A Move -Young M.C.
23 Should I Stay Or Should I Go -The Clash
22 Dude Looks Like A Lady -Aerosmith (awesome tune )
21 Rump Shaker - Wreckx-N-Effect
20 Closing Time -Semisonic(not too familiar)
19 Jessie's Girl -Rick Springfield (AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!)
18 Whole Lotta Love -Led Zeppelin
17 Wild Thing -Tone-Loc
16 These Boots Are Made For Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra (I prefer Megadeth's version )
15 Pretty Woman -Van Halen (Diamond Dave at his best )
14 It Takes Two - Rob Base (can I throw up now?)
13 Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses (ahh the memories )
12 Paradise By The Dashboard Light - Meat Loaf ( great drinking tune )
11 Hot In Herre -Nelly
10 I Love Rock N' Roll - Joan Jett
9 We Will Rock You -Queen( What about We Are The Champions? AKA The NY Yankees theme song )
8 Red Red Wine -UB40(eeessshh)
7 Mony Mony - Billy Idol ( I HATE this song Rebel Yell would be a better choice)
6 Fight For Your Right -Beastie Boys (awesome video)
5 One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer - George Thorogood (no comment )
4 Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw -Jimmy Buffett
3 American Pie - Don McLean (why did he drive the chevy to the levee anyway)
2 Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard (memories agian.. )
1 You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC (good song, but waaaay overplayed)

No Whipping Post? No Blue Sky?
A Travesty!!!!!

Uh, interesting list. I can't believe Freebird ain't on there! It's in every friggin juke box at every bar/pizza place I have ever been to! Along with Sweet Home Alabama on the flip side!

A few others I can think of always hearing...

Fleetwood Mac-that thunder always happens when it's rainin song (dreams?)
Willie's On the Road Again!!!!
Always something by Eric Clapton playing
Country songs you never heard of before!

Our local swill hole here in the back country woods has a Whipping Post with Ramblin Man on the flip side. I play it every time I am there and someone stumbles over and asks me if I am going to play Freebird. Hehehehehe.....

At a little rock & roll beer joint I managed a few years back I had about 5 ABB in the jukebox and there was always someone there who would comment on how good Skynyrd sounded... Always got a laugh out of us ABB folks....that was nice being in control of the tunes.

a bar in my hometown has a juke box w/ some live allmans and dead on it... like bnp recordings, not official. it's cool to stick a dollar in and get a 30 min version of Liz Reed... Watching people try to play pool during the drum solo.

Now the Rain Desert where Dusty has gigs sometimes has a 400 disc changer in there with all live stuff on it. Always played on shuffle too and it sounds great! He also has a pretty sweet soundboard set up and records your show for you for $10. Weekly downloads on his webpage too....check out the site and be sure to give a glance to the menu!

One of the best jukeboxes in the world is at the H&H....not a bar, but most get drunk on the atmosphere alone....

"Closing Time" by Semisonic; a band from these parts (Minneapolis) about The 400 Bar where they pretty much established themselves. This is an example of a song that became bigger than the band. They're good enough, but sometimes, one tune gets away from you and becomes your millstone. Local PBS has a nice clip of them doing an accoustic version that's really not bad at all.

How about:

"One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" Sinatra
"Son of a Preacherman" Dusty Springfield
"Boom Boom Out Go the Lights" Pat Travers

"Closing Time" is a great tune, the Patriots play that one at the end of every night game. Sounds really sweet walking out of the stadium after a victory.
