Good Morning to you all.
I wanted to take a minute ( and the ABB airwaves...thanks guys) to update some of you on the current goings on.

As many of you know, I moved to the great state of Alabama in July. I was blessed to get some solo shows and some side work early on but I didn't really expect to find a steady band for quite some time. It was tough to leave Chicago in a lot of ways and one of those ways was the No Mercy Band, my bandmates for 10 years.
Pete , JP, Todd and Angel gave me everything they had and then some. We still play together in Chicago ( this Jan. 16 &18th at HOB) and have a ball. The long term picture has each of them moving in different directions. Pete, toward the recording end, JP and Angel toward raising thier kids and Todd, off to the North Woods of Wisconsin.

They are my musical brothers and they always will be.

Low and behold, I was lucky enough to find two stellar musicians (among the many here) to play music with and we have decided to move forward with a new project , called the Lefty Collins Band. Joining me are Jon Player on Bass and Vocals and Jimmy Henderson on Drums and Vocals. Both of these guys play in almost every band in town, so booking can be tricky...LOL...but their talent is first class and they are first class people as well.

This band is the one I am bringing to BB King's in New York on the 21st of March.

I hope you can give us your support whenever possible. This group will be working on travelling the southeast in the coming months and we will be working on a release of new material over the next 6 months or so.

The Allman Brothers Band music is truly the soundtrack of my life....the debt I owe the band , for the joy they have brought to me can never be repaid....
This website, and so many of you have brought an equal amount of joy....a LARGE number of my friends are from here..folks i write to, or talk to almost every day...
Y'all have no idea how nice it is to go to a different city and see faces of your friends looking back at you.

You can find us at myspace for now by going here....myspace.com/theleftycollinsband

Some things are in the works for some new info here down the road....

It is also my pleasure to offer up two shows that the new band has done as a freebie for the first 10 folks to count off and pm me thier address...

no strings , just send your addy and they are yours...

as always, thanks to Lana and Rowland and all of you...

Lefty

Lefty, you don't know me yet, but I would like to come out and support you on the 21st.
That is if I can score my ABB tickets for the same night. I already checked out your myspace page and it's real cool.
What you said about the joy you get from the Brothers music and the folks on this site rings true with me too.
I hope to meet Lana some time and thank her personally for all this. I was just telling Sue yesterday, even though I've seen the Brothers play here and there for about 30 years (I'm guessin') )I've seen them with Dickey too.), the web people I've met so far in such a short time, are all extremely cool, nice, loving, happy, considerate, kind and all around friendly!!
They all make me feel welcome - just like the lyrics to
"revival" love is everywhere!
Hope to meet you on the 21st!
....... Al

Great news, Lefty! So glad things are going well for you in your new home town.
Looking forward to hearing The Lefty Collins Band in March!
Oh, and I would love to get those shows.

I guess Al is taking a spot, so I'm #4. Thanks, Lefty!

Woo hoo, Lefty! I'm sorry we didn't get much time to talk in Atlanta. I was going to send you a PM to ask who would be in the band at BBs. I'll check out your MySpace page at home tonight.

I'm not taking a spot, I'll just make a copy of Jacquie's

This news makes my heart soar. I've watched Jon and Jimmy over the years, watched these guys playing their tails off in utter obscurity, having fun anyway, having a blast, playing for their own entertainment. Like the situation with Albert and Highly Kind, it feels good inside to see good things happen to quality people. People who have paid their dues. People with the talent.

I've listened quite a bit to the pre-Thanksgiving show. The Tavern has it in their regular rotation. Myself and a young gentleman who travels for music were listening the other night, trying to figure out who we were listening to. We though maybe Widespread, Phish....then it became apparent who it was. We were thrown off by Jon Player playing bass and lead rhythm on his 6-string, at the same time. Notice it when you get the shows. Sounds like 4 guys, but it's just 3.

Congrats, Lefty. On the new band and the gig at BB's. That is terrific. I am gonna do my best to be there.

And, this is an excellent opportunity to get you and the guys booked for a show in this area. Let me know any possible way that I can help out.

It is a priviledge to be able to see you and LeeAnn whenever the opportunity presents itself. Y'all just good people.

Lefty, My Brother, I am so glad you are doing well and playing the music that touches your heart and moves your feet! I will try my hardest to be there at The HOB in March to check out the new band. You are very passionate about what you believe in and thats half the battle. All my best to you in 2009 and beyond...

Oh and by the way, I'd love to hear some of your music and I will be sending you a PM shortly my friend...
