The Allman Brothers Band will return to New York’s Beacon Theatre for another marathon run of shows this March. The extended residency will celebrate both the group’s 40th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of the group’s first appearance at the Beacon Theatre in 1989. As of press time, the group is expected to headline the room on March 9-10, 12, 13-14, 16-17 and 19-21. The Allman Brothers’ Beacon residencies are known for both their special guests and their diverse setslits, which range from rarities to special covers and radio anthems.

Though the Allman Brothers Band has close ties with everyone from jazz great Roy Haynes to southern rock veterans The Marshall Tucker Band to the members of Phish and The Dead, most eyes are on two possible special guests: estranged founding member Dickey Betts and guitarist Eric Clapton, the latter of whom has recorded with both Duane Allman and current ABB guitarist Derek Trucks. Betts’ tour schedule currently places him in the Northeast the days leading up to the Allman Brothers Band’s Beacon residency.

The best bet for getting correct ABB tour information is to check this website (ABB.com).

If "information" appears first on other sites including PhilZone, Jambands, Ratdog or whatever, most likely it is false and/or misleading. Just like the posts that claimed that the ABB and the Dead would be touring together, and included elaborate, but implausible tour dates and venues...... Turns out it's some poor fool's prank.

I would say that Jambands is pretty reliable source, but I also think that there will be some dates in the last weekend of March. Wasn't an Ivan Neville post ABB show announced somewhere for that weekend?

This is looking more and more reliable but being a member here, we know that the good word will be coming out soon. Lana and Rowland are probably working out the POG right now... I'd bet that last weekend is an add on too...

Surely there will be more than 10 dates in the long run. But those dates look pretty reasonable. LANA!!!!!! hehehe

Note that this says "compiled by" so maybe Michael Cieply got his info from browsing jambands.com. That's my guess.

Hey there sweet family,

You wanted it, you got it - the official Allman Brothers Band Beacon 2008 information ... soon to be appearing in a POG near you ...

THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND:
BACK AT THE BEACON IN 2009;
10 SHOWS BEGINNING MARCH 9 CONFIRMED

The Allman Brothers Band --honored this past November with Billboard magazine’s “Legends of Live” award--will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2009 the best way they know how: on stage and on the road. Rock’s definitive live performance act have confirmed they will kick off the year with 10 shows at New York City’s newly-renovated Beacon Theatre, where they’ve played 175 times since 1989 and established the most acclaimed and longest-running residency in rock and roll. Ticket information will be announced in mid-January.

The group--Gregg Allman(vocals and keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums and tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas and percussion)—will, as usual welcome many special guest musicians at the Beacon. “I’d love to tell you what we have planned,” Allman recently told Billboard, “but it’s just kick-ass, that’s all I can tell you.”

Check out www.allmanbrothersband.com for the latest news. (good job - you're already here )

I hope these shows are recorded for a DVD and/or CD, especially if alot of the rumored guests do indeed show up. If Clapton shows up to jam with them, that'd be really awesome! They could do some songs from the Layla album, or maybe Hoochie Coochie Man or Stormy Monday. I hope they come to Dallas sometime on the tour.
