I am going to be hammered over this but this is a quote out of Relix Magazine on page 55.

Derek Trucks article.

"When asked about the likelihood of Dickey Betts returning to the stage during the 40th anniversary shows at New York's Beacon Theater in March. "I don't really know but I would say it is even money or better" End of quote by Derek.

I thought this would never happen but who knows. It sounds positive!

Wow. That's amazing. I hope Dickey's there. He'll always be an Allman Brother.

Not to sound annoyed or anything but this is like the 3rd time that Derek quote has been posted here already. There have been other conflicting quotes from other reputable sources which are contrary to this.

It may happen or it may not, but I think we should just give it a rest to see how it all plays out. If you notice most people are pretty burned out on the subject and are taking a pass. They are just waiting to see what transpires. NOTHING that is said here will influence what will or won't go down.

Happy New Year!!

Maybe they can give Butch some Tranquilizers to keep him calm for a song or two.

Have Dickey standing at the side of the stage next to a fax machine and then Gregg sends him a fax to come on out.

Just remember the first part of his quote "I don't really know". It's an opinion.

Yep, everyone is welcome to have one.

Probably just a ploy to sell more expensive tickets!

It would be really cool if it happens.

It would also be cool of all the kids and the band were on stage together and played Jessica and/or One Way Out.

Any chances that the run starts in the first weekend of March, 6th-7th? That's when I could probably make it to NY.

To be honest, I care alot more about THAT quote than the other one concerning Betts. Quite frankly, the Betts stuff is starting to bore the living sh!t out of me at this point. Ooooooh sign up here if you want Dickey back! What are we in grade school? Most people just want to let the chips fall where they may. Isn't that the best way? Let the band decide, its all good. Let's be surprised...

Anyway, see you got me going now . Some new material, even if its just 3 or 4 songs would be very welcome I think. And the fact that it came right from Derek is very cool. I would love to hear what he and Warren have cooked up for the Beacon and beyond. Lots to look forward to I would say. One things for sure: Let's get ^Egypt^ back in the rotation. They have only just scratched the surface of where that song could possibly go... I think most of us love that tune. I know I do!

Effie ..not you my dear .... why we both love "The Band" and I mean "The Band" .... we are fine... I know your appreciation for the founding brother Dickey Betts.... all is KOOL.

The realitly is it's all KOOL .. we all have our passions , likes , and disikes.....sometimes I just have to comment , but I never mean it in a seriously bad way or to ever hurt someones feelings.. Nono

Good post Eddie!!! Not much to add. If they can work things out I would love to see Dickey sit in parts of these shows. Something tells me that egos will get in the way. I just can't see Dickey agreeing to guest in a band that he helped to create. I hope I'm wrong and he sits in for a few because his fans deserve it. I do not want him back in the band full time though as I don't want to return to the limited set lists and I think the current lineup is smoking.

I don't think she's mad at you Effie...I think she's mad at me.

Rainy, I'm sorry but I just spoke my mind a little bit as you often do as well. I have been part of this place a long long time and have made many friends here as you have too. It is okay to disagree I think. I do not cyber-fight, ever. Its not worth it and that is not my style. Let's be buds who simply have a different point of view...ok? Happy New Year to you!

Have a great day guys...gotta head out.

Peace always...

Eddie ... no problem ... I sorta like the bantering going on back and forth about Dickey Betts.. it makes people remember him... and that he is a founding member of the ABB...

No hard feelings at all.. It's not a personal thing or something ... this is a web fan based site .. We are all here because of the one common ground we all have The Allman Brothers Band.. and we dig 'em

Thanks for the words Eddie
