Saw the Sarah Palin SNL rerun last night. Just WTF was that skit suppose to be? Unprovoked cheap shot at Gregg? WTF?

saw it too........the song which I love brought me into the living room to see what was up with them playing it......

it was fine until the end then pathetic.

if they know about Gregg then they should be ashamed.

if they don't then it is even more pathetic........why take a shot at Gregg Frickin' Allman anyway.

the song spoke for itself and it was terrific to hear and THAT superceded the skit really.........."start a fire in your heart, come on baby".....etc

that superb groove was on the high ground and reverent and timeless.

the skit was not.

I didn't see the skit, so I can't comment to it. However, "I'm No Angel" has to be one of the worst offerings of Gregg's career, or the 80s in general. I love The Allman Brothers Band. But I'm No Angel absolutely makes me cringe whenever I hear it. The words are a mess. "Come let me show you my tatoo...." YIKES.
Just my opinion here. I'm sure he made a boat load of money with the tune. It just makes my skin crawl. The song, itself, is definitely worthy of parody.

Why cant anyone make fun of "Gregg frickin Allman" anyway? Is he bigger than Bush, Palin or Obama? Does he have some kind of immunity because he is in the ABB? Get real, its a joke!!! I didnt see it and rerally have no interest in SNL, but lighten up....

I have read (on the net) some reviews from folks who laughed and some who thought it was stupid, silly or made no sense at all.

I have not watched SNL for years, could give a sh*t less about the Palin skits. To me that show died years ago. I was busy watching "Robot Chicken" and "Boondocks".

I'll take MADtv(reruns) over SNL anytime these days .

They make fun of lots of famous folks, why would Gregg be any different for their unfunny foder. Didn't they have Alec Baldwin on there, geeze that alone is enough to keep me away.

Actually, I've liked a number of Alec Baldwin's appearances on SNL. I think he's not half-bad as a comedic actor, and whenever I see a funny SNL skit featuring him, I wonder why he doesn't do more comedy. It seems like he always plays the dirty copy, or dirty lawyer, or dirty doctor, or general sleeze-ball. He can be funny, too.

Droogie, I take it you've never seen 30 Rock? Great show and Baldwin is hilarious. I think he won an Emmy last year.

This may sound kind of weird, and I haven't seen the skit, but the sound of it made me proud. SNL is famous for parodying celebs. Think about it....the producers KNEW that the episode with Palen was going to get top ratings. It was the highest rated SNL in the past 20 years, and Gregg Allman is STILL relevent enough to be included in such a big production. My dad told me about it and he was pratically beaming. "Here it is, 2008, nearly forty years after The Allman Brothers, and theres ole Gregg being recognised on national television." Not to mention the fact that it kind of errie that the last time Gregg was made fun of on SNL (Chevy Chase) it was during the '76 election with Carter. All these years later, Gregg Allman is still a big enough star to be made fun of on SNL. That...is freakin awsome

I agree with your dad, Tony. I saw the skit. I thought Amy Poehler was absolutely HILARIOUS. I must say, I was a bit thrown by the Gregg Allman statement at the end, but they are obviously quite aware of his relevance in our society. If anyone knows of the Brothers success every year at the Beacon, it's the SNL folks. It was a harmless jab at Gregg.

It was a stupid poorly conceived and amateurishly executed skit.

I thought the skit was hilarious. It's a joke.

Her dancing was outrageously funny. SNL gets bashed around here often, I happen to like the show still. Justin Timberlake has been on a few times in the last couple of years and is the best host I've seen in a long time. Besides maybe Peyton Manning!

I'll bet everybody would like it if it was a jab at Dickey.

I'm not against good natured satire but I thought the comment thrown in at the very end of the skit was a cheap shot and uncalled for.

Still, regardless of the comment...it was a joke. I'm sure Gregg laughed about it.

That's the comment that people here are getting so bent out of shape about? Talk about being overly sensitive, and not to mention there are far worse things about him that SNL could have made fun of. People should be happy they only called him old and weird.

Talk about being overprotective-those comments are bland and non-specific and can be said about almost anyone. Greeg has quite a past and those comments do not even come close to criticism. You all need some thicker skin!!

That's very typical of today's SNL. Not offensive but not funny.

"Old, weird Gregg Allman ..." Old and weird - that just means that you're still a non-conformist, still coloring outside the lines, still a rebel. Personally, I'd consider that a badge of honor!
