Now more than ever there are people that need our help. I would suggest everyone do a little something to give back this holiday season. Everyone has some type of charitable organization that they can donate time, money, or food to in their local community. This is the time of year to remember your fellow brothers and lend a helping hand. So get out there and do something good this holiday season and help put a smile on someones face that might not have been able to do it without your help. My family is donating time and food to our local food bank and I challenge everyone to do their part to help out in their own communities. Now more than ever we need to pay it forward. You can make a difference. God Bless and everyone have a safe and happy holidays!

Gleaners food bank needs your help and if you can't help locally, they would gladly accept your donation. These people do tremendous work for the Indianapolis community!

Nice thread, JPB, and very true. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday.

There is a lot more need out there this year due to poor economic conditions than there was 12 months ago. My co-workers and I participate in a Habitat for Humanity build every year and also adopt a family at Christmas. This year we adopted the family who received the keys to the house we worked on. Yesterday morning we spent shopping for gifts for our family based on a 'wish list' we obtained. By pooling our resources we were able to make sure that this family who are trying to get on their feet will have a wonderful Christmas. It felt wonderful last year to deliver some much needed food/clothing/furniture items (and of course toys for the children) to our family and I know this years family will enjoy and appreciate having 'Santa' visit, also. All communities have food banks, shelters, and various organizations that sponsor adopt-a-family programs and all of these organizations are sorely in need of help.

I love the adopt a family concept. You get so much out of meeting the people that you are actually helping and the feeling of helping someone out at such an important time is something you can't put a price on.

Hope you have a great time with your family and that good times are had by all.

I really feel God has blessed my family, and myself this past year. I actually had one of my best years with my company. 2009 doesn't look like it will stay that way, but I'm open to new ideas. Tomorrow morning we will be handing out toys to many poor children in my area. The bikers I ride with have done this for over 15 yrs. now. There's nothing like the smiles on these kids faces. If there is one child that doesn't receive a toy, we send someone on a shopping run. During the rest of the year we do many benefits, and poker runs for individuals, or families in need. It is some of the most rewarding work I have ever been involved in. I'm trying to pass this on to my sons to carry on.
