LMAO....same here Deb! I immediately started humming the Slinky song when I read the title to this thread. And as far as I'm concerned, the plastic ones don't even count as REAL Slinkies!!

I don't recall these taking off too well.

But the big wheel is featured in a new car commercial lately

I always enjoyed this thing also, except back then the wheel was red and it had cardboard cutouts that you could put in the wheel...for a psychedelic effect.

Spirograph was fun. some of those damn patterns were hard as hell. I always hated when the wheel and pen jumped out of line and effed' up the picture.

My pictures never looked like this one.

What was that toy called where you had the bald dude in a plastic case on cardboard, it had little magnet shavings and you uses a magnetic pencil to put hair on his head and face. Now days it would probably also include genitals..LOL !

I thought the same thing! Did your slinky ever get sprung? Then it wouldn't work anymore.

I actually had one of these, did anyone else. I was always tearing it down and my Grandad would have to put it back together.

Mr. Machine

I also had one of these :

Later the Bear broke and my Grandpa used it as a door stop.

ah, the trips down memory lane. I had many of these toys as a child, along with my fave: lawn darts! I do miss Gumby and Pokey when the wire wore through the rubber and you poked your own skin until it bled.

Oh, and here's my favorite slinky quote:

Some people are like slinkies. They are not really good for anything; however, they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Fun memories! Etch-a-Sketch RULES! Spirograph RULES!

The one toy we asked for every Christmas and never got, was the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. I asked Mom a couple years ago why I never got that, and she said she tried really desperately, but all the stores were out of them. Don't know how I made it without them...sigh...

The one toy I was overjoyed to get was the Sixfinger!

http://www.samstoybox.com/toys/Sixfinger.html

It was a fake finger that shot projectiles...like a real spy would use! (or so I thought...) If the Green Hornet or the Man from U.N.C.L.E needed any help, I'd be ready!

My husband, Duane, who just turned 50 always asked for Rock Em Sock Em Robots when he was little and he never got them.
SO a couple of years ago his mother found the original game (not the cheapie new knock-offs....pun intended ) and sent it to him for Christmas...he was so excited to finally get those guys...LOL.
