We always do it the weekend after Thanksgiving. Just got finished and it looks fantastic. Wife and I really enjoy it and it's cool getting out the old ornaments from Christmases past. I still have an ornament I made in kindergarten. Must be about 200 years old.

So, got yours up?

(Tree that is, get your mind out of the gutter). LOL

Not intending to bring the thread down...but since I got divorced last year, I have NO Christmas decorations.

I intend to get a tree, a real one here in a week or so, but am only going to put a string or two of lights on it and that may be it.

My thoughts were to wait until after Christmas this year and take advantage of the after Christmas discounts on the decorations and pick up some more then.

According to my kids, my ex has switched to an artificial tree, something I would never have agreed to...so when they come to my house, they will get the real tree experience...

But to answer the thread question, this week or next, by Dec. 13 for sure.

Ours is up but not yet decorated. Unfortunately, my wife insisted on the artifical tree for the last few years, and it takes 3 guys to set it up because it is a 9 footer. I will never win the argument that we should have a real tree so I just suffer....

I haven't put up a tree in years. My only decoration is a spinning pyramid from Austria, which I think I'll set up today.

Generally I will put it up about a week and a half before Christmas and take it down on the second of January.

We buy the tree a couple of days before Xmas, put it in the stand for a couple of days and on Xmas eve I bring it in the house to be decorated.

Finally broke down and got an artificial tree this year and it took just about 15 minutes to put up this afternoon. Lights are already on it so all I have to do it decorate it now. I love real trees but I think I'll enjoy not worrying about fires and having to clean up arount it every day. Typically don't put them up til about 2nd week in December - feels good to have it done so early! On to Santa duties....

Real tree in about two weeks. Any earlier would be a little weird IMO.

Hey Helen, We have had an artificial tree for years. When my boys were young and we still lived in Ohio, we would always go out in the snow and cut down a tree. I swore I would never have a "fake" tree.

Then, one year my wife and my sister went out and got a tree and put it up and decorated it while I was at work. It looked great just like every year. My wife was going out of town for a few days and told me to make sure and water the tree every day to keep it fresh.

After a couple days I realized I hadn't watered the tree yet. So, I went and got some water and carried it into the living room. I got down on my hands and knees to water the tree and as I got right up on the tree it hit me; an artificial tree. I'll be damn. They fooled me with this artificial tree. I was glad no one was around to see me water the "fake" tree. We've had the same tree ever since.

And, we have a blue punk angel on top.

That's funny Drummy! I LOVE a real tree and also swore I wouldn't get a fake one either. This one came with all white lights, 7 1/2 foot and I gotta say, it looks pretty good! I added color lights to it tonight and will start decorating it tomorrow night. I'll try and see if Mikey notices it's not real next time he comes over. I may ask him to water it for me too

Personally I like a real tree, but putting it up and taking it down got to be a BIG pain after twenty years. This will be the 4th Christmas with the fake tree. My daughters still complain about the artificial tree, but since they never helped with the real tree I don't listen to them.

We did all of ours on Sunday, tree, stuff around the house, and outside lights. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
