Heard a song by him today ("The Uptown Train")

Had a buddy who was really into his stuff. Made me think of that.

Anyone else.

Never real paid any attention to him after his "Look Sharp" lp from the late 70s. Is he worth listening to now?

He's always good in concert. Saw him a few times on different tours and he never disappointed. Always a top-notch band and always fun to boogie. I really like his first 4 albums a lot, including Jumping Jive, one of the best swing albums available anywhere. He still does some decent stuff, but he never bows down to label pressure, just does what he wants. Gotta respect that.

I like Joe but haven't listened to him much recently. I got into his music in the early 80's with Jumpin' Jive, Night and Day, and Body and Soul. Night and Day is the only one I have on CD (have all of these on vinyl). May have to go home and dig this out for a listen.

Joe is very underrated for sure.
I saw him live 2 weeks ago and exceeded my expectations. In fact I was so inspired I grabbed his new CD Rain with a live dvd and a live one from NYC in the summer a couple of years back.
He was in a 3 piece format Joe on piano and vocals, a bass player and drummer.
Me as a music fan, I got to have guitar, but this really worked.

I won't make the true comparison, but not since Elton have I been blown away by a band led by a piano, not fiery playing but great texture and tome.

1) The man is a serious writer.
2) He evolves and does not become stuck in the same style or type of music.

If you can catch him check him out, it's a good date show, not for a night with boys by any stretch, good mix of hits and new stuff.

He is a class act.

RESENT THAT INFERENCE. MY SON AND I SAW JOE JACKSON WHILE MY WIFE AND FRIENDS WERE AT MADONNA TWO YEARS AGO. THERE IS NO GUY IN THE WORLD WHO HASN'T SANG "IS SHE REALLY GOING OUT WITH HIM" UNDER HIS BREATH AT SOME POINT IN HIS LIFE. IT'S THE MALE EQUIVALENT OF "I SHALL SURVIVE" BY GLORIA GAYNOR.

I still own Look Sharp, I'm the Man, Beat Crazy, Jumpin Jive, and Night and Day. All great albums. And yes, I agree that he is a class act. A true musician with a capital M.

Great . Now You did it. I know what I'll be listening this this weekend...

My wife is the Joe fan in the house.
She took me to small out door theater in Central park NYC a few years back called the del acroix. It was Joe Jackson solo on Piano and Todd Rundgreon solo on guitar and eukelee.
man I'll never forget it.

One of my favorite Joe Jackson albums was Big World. It was recorded live in front of an audience that promised to remain silent during the show. The tape went straight to CD without any edits to the music whatsoever. It has a passion and feel to it like few CD's I've ever listened to. Worth checking out IMO if you haven't.
