I was just told by a SOS call taker that Wanee will not be happening in April. She said the festival will happen a month or two later. She said the reason was that there will be other major acts this year and they are working on scheduling them all.

Sorry to hear that. The relaxed atmosphere is what I was looking forward to, not a big festival thing. Oh well............

I visited the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park:

http://www.musicliveshere.com/concerts_events.asp

And it displays: Wanee Every Spring Date TBA - with a link to the Beacon/Wanee vote page.

Hum????

I enjoy the mild temps in April. If they have it much later in the year, it will be unbearably hot. While that means festival goers will wear less clothing , it's still going to be sweaty HOT.

This might come as a surprise to some Wanee regulars, but I am considering not hosting the Campfire Jam next year. I'm thinking about packing the bike with a tent and sleeping bag and just being a part of Helen's Hilton....chilling for a change.

That has been up for awhile. They had the dates posted for a few days and they took it down. I wish we could get some concrete answers, but we will be going regardless

My wife was just saying the same thing. It will be unbearable, but we'll find a way....

I may drive this year also and just wonder around the southern US on the way there a bit. A tent at Helen's Hilton might be my destination this year. Maybe show up on Wednesday or early Thursday.

Isn't there a promoter that books the acts for Wanee rather than SOSMP? If so, I would not put any stock in this as "they" would not be scheduling them.

Wanee belongs in April and no other "major" acts are needed. I'm not gonna get stressed about it until there is "official" word on the matter.

You'll need an engraved invitation for that.

If I own one by then, I'll bring it. Strapping a guitar to a motorcycle and traveling 3 or 400 miles is a chore. I know from experience.

Turn your imagination loose on this....
Fits right in with what we've been hearing from Gregg and Derek.
Very logical that they may be trying to arrange schedules for "everyone that's ever played with us." Not all at Wanee, but during the year.

Who would be a fit at Wanee? Who would be the most fun? Certainly Jack. And Jimmy. And Chuck. What about CRS/Cowboy? John Hammond Jr.? Pete Carr? Dickey?
Who else?

And remember....we know some of these guys well enough to invite them to campfire jams.

Where would you like to see this go?
