RD, you are incorrect. A political statement goes beyond just reminding people to vote. Not even the discussion about the band playing at the PSU FR was political over all though the majority of that discussion happened in Anything Goes. Lana can't prevent people from making any statement anywhere unless she is interested in monitoring the site every minute of the day and banning people because they made an inappropriate comment. I am glad she doesn't because we are big boys and girls and know generally how to play within the few rules she has laid out as owner of the site.

And Lana, because she is owner of the site is allowed to make posts in every forum if she so chooses. As far as weather they were political or not, no one cares but you.

What I see you do over and over is basically ignore her good spirited request to post political discussions in the Whipping Post and not to post contentious comments in the guest book.

Your ongoing refusal to respect her simple and singular request really pisses me off because I find you convey a basic lack of respect for a woman in a leadership position. That I find rude and self centered.

If Lana was an administrator that controlled every little nuance of the site, I would say you may have a point but you don't because she does not.

What you do is self centered and self serving because you want to be perceived as a maverick, smart, and as if you have a valid point, but what you end up looking like at the very least is an adolescent who stamps their feet at any simple request for cooperation and who can't even find it in his heart to respect the one "rule" that Lana has laid out.

I find you very rude and it makes me ignore everything you say until I see that you have again started yet another argument in the guest book where people (all of us) have been asked (nicely I may add) to refrain from such behavior.

So keep on doing what you're doing and know that you are perceived that way by at least one person who could care less about your point but who thinks your behavior is over the top.

No Reddog I don't think you hear a thing but what you want to hear coming out of your own head.

You have been being a pain here on the guest book for as long as I can remember. I don't know you and am sure you have some valid points however you have been asked, nicely I might add, over and over and over and over and over again to put your political bs and your contentious bs over in the whipping post. You show a tremendous amount of disrespect in almost everything you say and do as it relates to Lana, no matter how you think you are coming across.

I personally don't read a thing you say but you know, some people still give you some attention. Frankly I think you behave just like another privileged self centered man when it comes to this forum and I personally think you stink because of the way you disrespect her basic request that this area of the web site be for people to be nice to each other.

Somehow I get the sense that you couldn't be nice if you tried.

Bravo Angela.

However, RD will feign ignorance on how to use the forums like usual.

Uh, maybe you would like to run Red Dog off completely?

I for one totally enjoy reading his posts, with the nuggets of history, good and bad.

I think Ang's point was about respecting Lana!

Can't we ALL just get along? Oh how sweet it would be!

Maybe some do, but I don't care either way.

I think his on going defiance of Lana's one request is mean spirited and small.

He can still do what he wants to do sure, but he just shows what a prig he is.

I am aware of his historical significance and association with the band, however, some folk revere him like a god who can do no wrong. I read more in the GB about his personal politics and golf handicap than about his days as a roadie with the band...

Woe betide anyone who dare criticize him.

HIs 'Book of Tails' was an interesting read.

---Well, then, that should mean that any statement by a current or active "family member" of the band. I have noted previously that pronouncements from such persons have been treated as "gospel." And, woe to anyone who challenges such a view, unless it is Reddog?

By the way, I can't recall but one still active member of the band who publicly declared themselves as a slain civil rights leader. Available on video and audio, but woe to anyone who dares mention it, for they are attacking "gods". Or is that not the intent?

Red Dog was there almost from the time the band became the band. When there wasn't much money, he was a friend and he and the others made sure it all ran smoothly on the way to the big time. While a bunch of you criticizing him hadn't even heard about the band, he was right there helping to create the legend and making history. People talk about Duane and every lick he ever played.....Red Dog was there.

No one has to agree with everything Red Dog says, but I think anyone who dares criticize him with the disrespect I've read in the GB has no right to talk about the 'one big family, brotherhood' because they aren't walking the walk or talking the talk. Of course I'm not surprised given the pomposity of one or two of the people calling him out and thinking they're so clever they have to start a whole thread to make certain no one misses it.

I have enough respect for Lana to know she's perfectly capable of speaking to Red Dog direct if something bothers her. And if his comments bother her, she will. I'm certain Lana doesn't need anyone else to handle her business for her.

Big Ann ... Thank You for all the things that were in my head and I just couldn't get it typed out the right way... You DID... Much respect to you for the respectful way of showing it off to Red Dog ..woof... No one knows those days better..

I am going to change the topic just for a bit , as I feel this is a good opportunity to express something that has been bothering me since they first started mentioning the 40th celebration show...

My feeling is ..if your going to bring all the cats that were there to help you ride to all the success's that you've had... You better think at starting at the beginning, not the middle , and not at the end, the beginning right back were it all began . Which means including RED DOG, Dickey Betts... anyone I am missing from the beginning It goes with out saying Please add your name to the list.

Big Ann is there anyway this can be brought up for a group Discussion to see where this can go ????

Just very curious , is all

Sorry ladies, RD isn't some hero who gets a pass just because he was there long ago.

Lana has asked time and time again to keep the BS out of the GB.

He continues to ignore that, feeling he's "entitled" because he was there from the beginning.

Some of his posts that I've read were entertaining and informative, the political crap belongs in the WP and nowhere else.

Too bad he's too "entitled" to understand that.

Angela hit the nail on the head.

I'm with Ron on this. Certainly everybody knows Reddog's history with the ABB, nevertheless when he visit the "Hittin the Web" site, he should be respectful of Lana's wishes, as most of us try to be. Lana made this very clear in the GB on Wednesday morning following the election.

This was posted first, dear

I think a mention of it on the guest would have been better ..such as ....I posted a political message from the Allman Brothers Band today under Whipping Post or Anything Goes thread.

Instead this was on the Guest Book .... can be taken as an open invitation to talk about...

I know if Hemlock were still around you can bet he woulda jumped on it.

Hey there sweet family,

A message from the Allman Brothers Band regarding tomorrow's election:

"Tuesday we will elect the next President of the United States. The result will have great consequences for the nation.

This election offers a choice between two men with dramatically different visions of the future. We have strong feelings about this choice. But we feel even more strongly that all Americans, regardless of political preference, have a stake in the outcome and should vote in this critical election.

This is likely to be a close election. Your vote matters. Please use it and make a difference.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Just acouple of comments:

Red Dog has earned his place in the band's history. He was there from day one. He and Duane have/had similar personalities. If you want to get a small insight into Duane...listen to Red Dog. He's the real thing not some wannabe...if you don't want to know the answer don't ask...cause he'll tell you exactly what's on his mind.... and he's not going to back down.

He, Duane and Oak were funny (the ha ha kind) about just about everything...except the music...that they were dead serious about. Red Dog is getting your goat and sitting back laughing while blowing smoke up your a$$.

Anne's husband, Johnny, and Red Dog were two of Duane's best friends. If you can't respect them for who they are, at least do it for Duane. He's the reason we're here today.
