Every thread I open is full of whining about Obama. DFC voted for him, and he's attacking everyone in the forum. So I started this thread for all the whiners. Come here and bitch and whine and pray about our new president.

I didn't vote for him...does that make me a whiner if I post here?

Only if you whine.

Have you looked at the other threads? I thought we'd have at least a few gracious losers.

I thought they could all come in here and whine together, but it looks like they are more concerned with finding someone to fight with.

Poor Dick Kelley is beside himself trying to find ANYONE who will engage him in conversation. Some of the other whiners might be able to console him.

Alan,

Conversely, was there a "whiner's" thread in Nov 2000 and Nov 2004?

Why are there always so many brown M&M's. Why not more of the blue ones? And I hardly see any tan ones anymore.... (grumblegrumble)

A few of us were quick to congratulate Barack last night on his victory. Just wanted to point that out...

Actually, I have looked at the other threads and there are plenty of people who are not whining, who didn't vote for Obama.

Agreed. Many did not have their candidate win last night but have been supportive of or congratulatory of Obama's win. In fact I think the majority are gracious - the few who are not happen to be overzealous in their opposition and negative attitudes which skews the outlook on the picture. We're all in this together - isn't it to everybodies advantage to have whatever the next 4 years holds be positive in nature?

But there are a bunch who are. Maybe they aren't as many as it seems, but they are just posting a lot.

They took over my thread of my disappointment that only 3 people in my precinct voted for a third party

Great idea, Allen. In the spirit of things, I would like to submit my post as a proxy for Rush Limbaugh and all his dittohead listeners. I normally dont listen to him, but I couldnt resist today. I skipped lunch and instead fed on the tears and outrage of him and his loopy fans.

The barking spiders on the train this morning were horrible and smelly too. Unacceptable. Is there anything the new administration will be able to do about such horrible infestations?

Depends on your definition of whining. Obama's victory last night is only one part of the transition. I have accepted it and moved on. But, that shouldn't stop someone from voicing their opinion or commenting about the situation as long as it's done in a respectful manner.

The Right has now been transitioned into the role of the watchdog party, just as the Left has been for the last eight years. It's not only our duty, but our right and our responsibility to offer dissent if we feel it's warranted IMO. I don't want to fight anybody here, but offering an alternative view sometimes is what makes a debate. Attempting to shut it down by calling it whining isn't going to work.

BTW, I have seen quite a bit of what you would define as whining coming from the Left side of this board for quite a while. Whining bordering on downright hatred. Well, the Right is in the cheap seats now, and the seat's pretty damn warm. The view is pretty good from here.

Don't think for one minute that the press hasn't been transitioned, either. The election is over now and Barack's every move and campaign promise will be tracked, dissected, graded, and picked apart. It comes with the territory.

No 100 days of grace this time? Most presidents are at least given that 100 days of a new term (which doesn't start until Jan.) before the criticisms begin and yet you feel compelled to start complaining because you are now 'the watchdog party'. Pretty lame.

Sorry you feel that way, Jack. We are in uncharted territory now. Barack himself has said repeatedly we are in the "worst economic crisis since the Great Depression." He's going to have to act fairly quickly. I don't think we can wait on a 100 day honeymoon this time.

I'm with Jack - Obama's not even in office yet and he's being criticized and called upon to turn things around immediately. How? It's true that Obama has alluded to the sad state of the economy. He has also said that it will not be changed overnight which sounds honest and realistic to me.

I'm not naive enough to think that it won't take some time for his policies to take effect. And I am aware he is not in office yet. But, is it OK to criticize him for wanting to raise taxes on individuals and businesses during a time that GDP is contracting? Details like that? If so, I'm sorry. And his appointment of Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff didn't strike me as being too symbolic of "change." Those are the only two things I've criticized him for today. Oh well, my bad.

Got my kid gloves on now...

alloak41,

Interestingly, you also might see another "pc" reason not to critique. It may, I say, may, lead to being called racist or bigotted. While not a certain response, it will be hanging in the air. At least my last name ends in a vowel....perhaps a time-limiited innoculation

I think it is whining when you are all predicting what is going to happen in the future, and lamenting now how terrible it is going to be. That is whining. Complaining about things the Bush administration was doing was just that, complaining. Some on here already know what is going to happen, and don't even wait to see what happens before they start squealing. RBK is the main one, with a little help from some others. Fear of the future is a pretty common trait, but choosing to complain about things before they even happen isn't very productive.
