I actually heard, from someone else at the show, that the encore was Mtn Jam > Blue Sky (no vocasl) > Mtn Jam. Can anyone confirm this. Sounds hard to believe.

Wouldn't be surprised (I wasn't there either) - just about every show I've heard from this summer includes some sort of tease during the instrumental song - stuff like Les Bres, My Favorite Things, Voluntary Slavery, Norwegian Wood come to mind off the top of my head...

Right, much as I hate to say it, if we were to be blessed with an all-of-a-sudden-kiss-and-make-up-bury-the-hatchet reunion, I doubt if the Chicago Theater would be the place.

Although Berry was from here, wasn't he?

I was there last night as well- not back stage though, so I can't confirm whether or not Dickey was there... still, I can confirm that right after the drum solo and Oteil's bass something crazy happened- they most definitely played somewhere b/w 3-5 minutes of a Blue Sky jam- there was no mistaking it- it was not Franklin's or just doodling or whatever, they were playing Blue Sky.. I'm actually pretty surprised that there were no posts about it really, but oh well... I'll be there again tonight I think- I had plans but they must be blown off for the Bros!

Somebody posted that Derek did a Blue Sky tease after the drum break. I doubt the band went on to play it for very long, though.

I'm with Pam. I think it's more likely Dickey was on a spaceship than at the theatre last night.

Barrold21,

You are 100% correct about Blue Sky last night. Someone on the Guest Book forum mentioned that Derek teased it, but that description doesn't do it justice. It was basically two decently long ( and brilliant ) solos, each by Derek then Warren, sandwiched in between the Blue Sky melody. I was amazed.

In fact, I knew something was up b/c Warren leaned over a squatting Derek before the end of Drums and the two were talking for about 2 or 3 minutes. They actually came out of drums straight into the melody with everyone expect Gregg. He came back to his keys midway through Derek's solo. It makes me think that he might not have had an influence on the decision. He always staggers in and out, though, so who knows...

Anyway, the official setlist should read

E: Mountain Jam>
Drums>
Blue Sky>
Mountain Jam

Yes, I taped the show. It's "Blue Sky" with the harmony guitar riff and all, but just the solo section. It was played in "E" like the original, not "G" like later versions. I was half-convinced they were going to sing it. That's how real it was...

Dickey was not back stage last night... Although that would be an interesting rumour to start! - And to be honest, when they started playing "Blue Sky" I almost thought that maybe something happened to Dickey... That's sad, but I guess I was looking for excuses as to why I was hearing it...

Well, let me take that back. Maybe he was backstage. I just didn't see him, but I didn't stick around and I CERTAINLY would doubt that he was!

The other day I was watching television and I thought I saw Dickie firing pistols a helpless little rabbit. Whe I looked closer it turned out to be Yosemite Sam.

OK, what was the crowd response when they were teasing with Bluesky.
Were most of the crowd even aware of it...I know it sounds strange to even say that but some fans are truly clueless.
You still get people at shows asking...Where's Dickey, is he sick or something. Or others yell
play "Ramblin Man" not even aware that Dickeys not in the band anymore. Others ask who is the kid with the ponytail. ...Others actually think Derek is Greggs son. I've heard all sorts of weird stuff. These are truly "Close encounters of the Clueless Kind" Sheesh.

Just wonderin'

We had a drunken woman dancing in front of us for the entire Toronto show. During the breaks she kept saying " I love Dickey Betts!" and "play Ramblin' Man". I sure wasn't gonna be the one to tell her anything.
