"Twist & Shout" has got to be their best cover. That was already a high energy hit, and Lennon shouted himself hoarse taking it up a notch. "Long Tall Sally" is close second.

My favorite cover of the Beatles is an obscure Jamaican duo, Bob & Maria, singing "Don't Let Me Down".

According to Sir George Martin, John "tore out his larynx" on that one. This song was recorded at the end of a 10 hour marathon session to record their first album. Think about it, one of the greatest debut albums of all time, done in 10 hours. That's just a days work to most people. Who can create a masterpiece in just ten hours? Pure genius. Martin stated the 'lads' were drinking milk & sucking lozenges to sooth their throats by the end. 'Twist & Shout' was done in one take because Lennon had no more voice for another take. Truly remarkable.

I also like 'Please, Mr. Postman'. The Beatles cover of the Marvellettes song was 'spot on'. Tone, inflection, down to the last "wait a minute, wait a minute" in the fade out.

My favorite cover of The Beatles was the Rubber Soul cover with Abbey Road a close second. The Rubber Soul cover had a lsd feel to it with the elongated faces and type.

Oh, you meant cover songs.

Twist & Shout, A Taste Of Honey, Act Naturally, Roll Over Bet. and Matchbox.

Covering the bases:

Favorite song(s) the Beatles covered:

Twist & Shout
You Really Got A Hold On Me
Mr. Moonlight
Words Of Love
Slow Down
Rock & Roll Music

Favorite cover of a Beatles' song(s) by another artist:

Things We Said Today - Dwight Yoakam
With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker
One After 909 - Willie Nelson
I Am The Walrus - Spooky Tooth
Got To Get You Into My Life - Earth, Wind & Fire

Just a commentary note: WORST cover of a Beatles' song by another artist:

Here Comes The Sun - Lindsey Buckingham (from a live ABC 1999-2000 New Year's Eve show hosted by Peter Jennings) He just butchered it.

Favorite Beatles album cover:
Revolver

and the "blue album" cover taken in 1969 that attempted to recreate their Please, Please Me cover. (Was going to be the cover for their Get Back album, that was obviously scrapped until Phil Spector ressurrected the tapes for Let It Be)

Twist and Shout
Long Tall Sally (an amazing one taker with John & George both taking lead solos)

I love:

She Said, She Said by Gov't Mule

I Want to Hold Your Hand by Al Green
Julia by Chocolate Genius

there are lot of other really good ones too

Rufus Wainwright does a great cover of "Across the Universe."
And the cover of "Helter Skelter" by Dana Fuchs is phenomenal. She's the one who sang it in the movie "Across the Universe." I saw her perform it live and acoustic in April. Anyone who can rock an acoustic Helter Skelter gets my vote

If I'm not mistaken, the photo session that the Hey Jude album cover photo was used from was the last GROUP photo session they did.

I THINK THE STORY HAS IT THAT JOHN ESSENTIALLY KNEW HE HAD ONLY ONE TAKE LEFT IN HIS HOARSE VOICE; HE LET IT ALL OUT KNOWING THAT HE HAD TO HIT THIS TAKE OR THE SESSION WAS OVER.

acoustic Helter Skelter - sounds cool.

Also, Jerry used to do a great version of Dear Prudence

Which was really surprising for me, because I like Lindsey's stuff for the most part. AND, around that time, he'd just done some great covers of the Rolling Stones (She Smiled Sweetly, Gotta Get Away, The Singer Not The Song, I Am Waiting, Blue Turns To Grey, etc), Donovan (Try For The Sun) and Joni Mitchell (Big Yellow Taxi)
