Sometimes life has you anchored down so low that itís difficult even to drag yourself out for a fantastic artist at a fantastic venue. But if you are very lucky and the night is very special, the first note grabs you. Then every note feeds your soul like mana. And every note pumps your heart full of joy. And every note lifts you from your seat and suspends you in a place of complete harmony. And when you walk out into the cool night you thank God that you are alive and you thank God for His gift of music.

I missed this because I already had tickets to See Joe Satriani and Mountain at the Warner.

And that was a really fun show also.

Hope to Catch DTB next time

Can anyone post the Roanoke set? It was a great show, lots of energy and Derek was very animated, esp. during the sit down set. Rocking back and forth, picking both feet up of the ground, lots of fun to watch. I met Todd earlier in the day at a local blues resturant and he was super cool. anyway if someone could post the setlist from roanoke that would be great! (any tapers last night? i couldnt tell from the balcony)

Nice review, Rhonda! Well put. I know the feelings that you speak of. Great photos, also. I was on the fence about going to this show, sounds like I missed a great one.

What does anyone have to say about the new songs? Curious....

Life does have me at an all time low right now, I feel like I've been dragged, beaten, kicked, and dragged again in all aspects. In the words of Merl Saunders I :"keep on keepin on" Walking into the Strathmore, I was not in any way in high spirits, But Dereks Music and the great sound at this fantastic venue lifted my heart and soul and my spirit for two and a half hours, and I do thank God for giving me a gift of music appreciation. This band is special in their own expressing differrent genre and feelings. I got to talk to Kofi for a bit afterwards and meet a few people from HTW, will follow up with pics later today. Alan

For whatever it's worth, most of those "first time played" at the Strathmore werwe played the night before in Easton.

having said that, what a great 3 nights of music we just finished up....

I didn't see any tapers, so if this Roanoke show pops up, it will be from someone who was taping "low key"
Sure hope it was taped, it was pretty good, maybe my favorite of the 3 nights....but I'm not gonna try comparing, they were all great.

Earlier this week, I inquired w/ Benjamin(the man w/ 2 first names) about available tix, He politely responded that he sold them, but stop by the seats and say hello. I salvaged a ticket, finding a great seat as you'll from my pics.
So during intermission I did go to see and got to meet Mr. Benjamin and his wife. It was very nice talking with them! Genuine good people! They were on their way to Roanoke, and should have a set list form there, and they got the artisticly printed set list from the Strathmore. Also met Michaelisio? As we jousted about his political views on the HTW. All in good fun! I thought from the photos from Atlanta, I saw a guy looking like Bluedad? Was he there? But it may have been a look a like in the front row This is all the reason this sight is a special place even though there are the negative moments here. Not to mention the welcomed experience at Smiling Jack's (Dulcineas/Red Rocks). Still fresh in my mind!
As of late, the past few weeks, there has been a lot of stress in everyones life including mine. Lately there's been too much of a negative vibe here, and it's causing many of us to lose interest or stay away, and get frustrated in those few making it miserable. Don't let the power of the keyboard, ruin things for yourself and others, as I have experienced that before, and sometimes wish this thing called e-mail, and IM never got invented. It's official that the handwritten letter, an envelope, and stamp is almost long gone; soon to be extinct like many of our environments and species.

I'm glad I became active here. I'm here for the music and to relate that to others and meet good people. I have been a member since 2004, but never got actively involved actively until 2 months ago. Like I've read here before, the good very much outweighs the bad, I will still be posting pics later. Cheers to those who experienced the special sound the DTB created for us at The Strathmore!

Greatly enjoyed the show. EPIC 20 minute My Favorite Things and so much blues.

For the most part people actually listened!

Had anesthesia that morning but couldn'r stay away.

Was my tenth (dTb) show in 10 years...interesting to contemplate all the changes over the years...in the band and me.

Oh, man, isn't it the truth! I laughed aloud when I read this because it is so true. We came close to blowing off the Strathmore show b/c John had a medical procedure under anesthesia that morning on top of a terrible cold that he can't quite shake, and I'm feeling way too stressed at work.

Am I ever glad we went, because it was an amazing show -- a gift to experience it first hand.

DTB is the first band John and I heard together, so every show we go to is kind of a ceremony for me, a renewal.

It was a gift Enigmajean!; Everyone was very content with the gift of music they received. Glad for you!
Mike Mattison I feel and have always thought of him as being a blend of Sam Cooke, Fats Domino, Marvin Gaye, rolled up into one great vocalist. Not often bands have that within their line-up.

I agree, Mike is one of the absolute best singers and perfect for the DTB. His range is incredible...from the deep growl to that wonderful falsetto!
