Not that it has totally sunk in yet, but when the prices for the renovated Beacon
come out, how many will have to pass even though it would be incredibly worth
it?

Depends on if the tickets are $10,499.00 plus handling charges for upper balconey.

It could affect the number of shows I go to,but I will be there.Of course, living here makes it easier than for those with hotel and travel expenses.

It means probably two shows instead of the four I did on the last two Beacon runs. The ticket prices went way up for the last tour that was cancelled. The increase plus the bad economy means a smaller entertainment budget for me so I have to really pick my spots.

I have already completely cut out all of the big name super expensive shows I would have gone to in the past(Rolling Stones, The Who, Neil Young and on and on). I pretty much stick to about a half dozen bands I go to see on a regular basis when they tour. Those bands and whoever open for them are pretty much it for me at this point.

I'm not complaining though, I still get my fill with the ABB, Gov't Mule, Phil&Friends, DTB, The Black Crowes, Hot Tuna and Pearl Jam. All of these great bands keep the ticket prices reasonable with the exception of the ABB Beacon tickets which have gotten pretty steep although I think they are worth it for those very special shows in such an intimate and magical setting. I also do Mountain Jam as my one biggy each year and that for me is an expensive weekend. But you get a ton of great music for the price in a beautiful mountain setting.

It also means eating dinner before I hit the city instead of going out for dinner. I also refuse to pay six plus dollars for a beer when I go out now. Maybe one or two on occasion, but it's just not worth it to me in these times. I have also cut down big time on other concert (Mother Nature) habits. At least I can still see the shows though, which keep me sane.

I am definitely hoping to be there but it would probably be for 1 show only and dependent on whether I can get travel partners to share hotel cost (which I've already reserved a room just in case ). My son is getting married next summer so I will have some big expenses coming up (wedding gift, reception dinner, motel/travel/clothes/etc for actual wedding) and that needs to be a priority for me. We shall see (but hopinghopinghoping)...

sixty8 - I had tickets to see Neil Young in a couple of weeks and price was reasonable, seats were pretty good, then show got postponed until next spring due to 'routing problems' (I had refund issued on the tix since I have no idea when/what will be going on next month let alone next spring but was disappointed to be missing the only fall show on my agenda...)

Not only the Beacon......but I am not going to the Christmas Jam or the DTB NYE shows as in years past. Saving up for Wanee.

If matters get much worse financially, I plan to sneak into Wanee disguised as Joe Fester's brother. Hopefully, Banesh and Ecosense can carry me through the gates.

All will ride on the tickets...if not good won't spend all the dough it takes to pull off the trip.

Must be "reasonably" close to stage or front of balc/mezz.

Anywhere else and it's listening to convo, yelling, singing in several keys...

Nothing can drag me away from going at least 1 night. More than that will depend on what they see fit to charge for tix. I hope they take the economy into accnt. when they set the pricing -- both Jim Grinch Dolan and the ABB.

I was just thinking about this today....NO, I'll still try and go to a handful of shows, may opt for upper balconey a few times but I'll still go.

It's not the economy that will keep me from going, but the lack of Dickey Betts in the lineup.

I'm looking to go to 3-4 shows, but a lot depends on pricing and timing since I'm hoping to make Wanee this year, too.

A handful is about right. That means six or seven with me and the gang and about two more with your family!
