to my 92 Grand Prix which ain't too pretty but its sneaking up on 200,000 miles and within the past few months have dropped a little over a grand into it ? Poor thing hasn't had a working window motor in it for over two years on the driver's side now and I keep the window propped up with a magnying glass because when the motor locked up the window was down. Renewal for tags is in November and I need 2 tires ( at least), probably brakes and a few knick knacks to pass inspection, so there goes bit more cabbage.

Sounds like it's time. Plus this ought to be a buyer's market on a new or used car.

Goodbye, old Paint, I'm a-leaving Cheyenne ...

Jon, if she's starting to nickel/dime you and you know there are also major repairs to be done and the mileage is up there it's probably time to get a new ride (part of the philosophy being sink those $$$ into something that will last a little longer than something you know you'll be feeding coin into again soon). Good Luck with whatever you choose!

Now, what is it with the motorized windows. Why does it always seem to be the driver's window that goes out???

I was talked into getting rid of my baby. A 2001 Grand Prix GTP I kept her so clean you could eat off the engine or floors.

Like this

a week, yes a week after I traded her in, the kid who bought her wrapped her around a tree.

Holy cow...a thousand bucks in a few months? That was a down payment on a good used car. I understand the reluctance...I very unwillingly gave up my little Isuzu truck that had 250K on it, but a cracked block was too much for me to consider, so I drove her to the salvage yard myself and bought a 3 year old Ford Ranger :-)

Its a buyers market on cars right now. Trucks too.

Wow Jon; 200k miles is a pretty good achievement.

I wonder if the current economy will help or hurt used car prices. I know that newer gas hogs are stinking up lots everywhere, and getting big discounts

Yeah I hated putting money into the car, but the alternative was a car loan. Woulda been nice to use that money on sales tax but I was trying to not have a car payment thrown into my monthly outgoing monies. If I get EVEN close to what I've put into it recently on a trade ( you know the game ) its on its way to ...probably the crusher.
Man I'm gonna hate losing my ol' chick magnet...its same polarity as a chick so it pushes them away !

Sad but true.....It's time to move on. But as mentioned, you've got the dealers by the balls right now. New and used deals everywhere.

Some vehicles hold up better than others. I think your car is worn out by age more than mileage. My 2003 Chevy Z71 company truck has 201K miles on it and we used it to road trip to ATL this last weekend. I just put it in the shop today for service, tire rotation and new shocks. This thing has never had a tune up and it runs like a Singer sewing machine.

Jon, sell it outright, get what you can get for it, and go find a nice, used car for $3000-5000. They're out there if you look hard enough. Make sure you can haul band gear in it.
