OK, despite the photo of me in the article, this one doesn't really count as shameless self-promotion since the book is only mentioned in passing. It's a beautiful story of Michael Ray Taylor's memories of Duane during the young guitarist's days with the Escorts.

Very cool, Randy! Love Michael Ray Taylor's recounting of those days in '65.

"...As early Allmans' manager John Loudermilk told Poe, he tried a test at the Briar Patch that he had learned from Tom Parker, Elvis' manager: "Turn your back to the artist. You know what he looks like onstage. Just turn around and watch the audience. You can see the emotion in their faces, and you can tell about how much they'll pay to continue having that emotion."

This is the very phenomena that Bup'1 and I have described that occurs whenever we introduce "newbies" to ABB music (except for the "pay" part). Watching the expressions on peoples faces as they "get" what this music is all about - priceless!

Thanks for the link, Randy! And please, plug away!

My same thought, Rusty.

Forwarded to Jimmy Walker, who was there when it was happening.
