Democrat? Republican? Independent? Non-voters? None of the Above?

I came from a mixed marriage. Dad was a Dem and Mom was a hardcore Republican as were her parents. I remember one time when I was probably a young teenager, Dad must've gotten frustrated with my Mom/her parents and their politics because he said "your Mother and he whole family are nothing but a bunch of $?%!& Republicans!"

As most of you know, Mom passed away in June and so Fox News lost a viewer. I miss the teasing we handed out about each other's candidates. I don't think she would've liked Sarah Palin, but I know she would've voted for McCain. She loved that fact that for one of her birthdays, I send her a gift card to Barnes and Noble as she loved to read, especially political biographies and didn't she go and buy Bill O'Reilly's book with "my" money?!?! I about had a fit when I heard that one. She thought it was hilarious.l

My mom is a Democrat, and I think my dad votes Republican for strictly economic reasons, not anything philosophical. Not much political arguing growing up, but lots of discussion. I have an aunt who is Hungarian and escaped in the fifties, very interesting to hear her and her family's take on things European and US. I go back and forth, not feeling really comfortable with either party.

Both my parents were Republicans, so I was the rebellious black sheep of the family. But slowly they're coming around. Before he died in '96, my dad indicated he was going to go for Clinton. My mom this year really likes Obama and will likely vote for him (and she held coffees for Barry Goldwater!). She was born in Chicago's Hyde Park, so part of it may be loyalty to the local guy.

Sorry again about your mom, Terri.

I came from a pretty non-political household. My parents were the children of dirt poor South Georgia farmers. My Dad joined the Navy and escaped the farm, and married my Mom two years later. They didn't know anything about politics, and in later years, didn't care.

My Dad is dead, and my Mom has gotten more politcally aware during the past 8 years, mainly because people from her church send her emails about the heathen Democrats and liberals.

So imagine my surprise to find out she might vote for Obama. As a Christian Navy wife, she's not real impressed with McCain.

Both Republicans, who follow politics closely and NEVER miss a vote of any kind.

Ditto.

I'm sure my father will vote the party line, but my mother will either vote Obama or go the protest vote route.

They were true-blue FDR Democrats. My Mom was raised by a single mother in the Great Depression and my Dad was a radio writer blacklisted for opposing McCarthyism and speaking out against the blacklist. I never had a chance.

When I was a kid my Daddy said to me that I was cursed, being raised a Democrat and a Mets fan. Still got both religions and I'm hoping to go 1 for 2 this year.

Dad was a republican and didn't appreciate the birthday card I had sent to him from Clinton. Mom is a republican but she won't talk politics anymore after 7 years of Bush and said she's not going to vote any more.

My Dad was a Republican. Mom is a Democrat. Lot of good arguments at the dinner table, especially during the Nixon years.

My Dad was a Republican. My Mother was a Democrat. He was from the South, she was from NYC. He was laid back, she was always moving, did not want to miss out on anything. On a vacation she would want to go to as many places as possible, he wanted to just relax. My political persuasion was Democratic, but now I am leaning to the Constitutional Party because so many of our freedoms and intrinsic rights the founders of this country fought and died for have been taken away from us.

Both were a product of their times...FDR Democrats.

To this day, when I challene my mother as to why she votes Democrat, she cannot give me an answer other than...."thats how we always vote"

Mom was a Republican, Dad, a Democrat. Any arguments at the table when I was young were mostly between me (Democrat) and my Dad. Go figure.

My mom was a Democrat and I'm pretty sure my Dad is Republican. I've voted Democrat, Republican and Independent over the years.

Truck Driver (bartender during lay-offs) and Waitress.

A Greaser and a Beatnik.

Both Democrats, although my dad liked Reagan. "He's put more money in this house," he used to say - probably in reference to the early days of trucking deregulation, which I know little about.

Edit: forgot quote marks

In all honesty, I don't know.

My guess would be Republican but they vote both ways and
we never discussed it.

I'm a registered Independent. I'd rather have more than a
2 party system. That and term limits on Congress.

My parents didn't discuss politics with me. I have no idea how they have voted in the past. I do know my father can't stand Joe Lieberman.

Both are life long Republicans. As were their parents and their brothers. My grandmothers held public office in the county they lived in and when my sis and I were young we used to campaign with them passing out their cards at little county/town fairs. Me - I'm a whatever.
