Thanks to Eliot Spindel for this link in the listserv and the GB. Check out Gregg's comments on Clapton and other guests!

On a side note. Which three angels were prepping him for tour?

So we are visiting your fair city? We have a lot of surprises for you. The majority I can't tell you about. But we are trying to know and be able to play any song we've ever recorded. Every damn one, and we want to space them out because it's so easy to get in a rut. Plus I'm hoping we can find time to go in the studio with some new songs that have been road-tested. My theory is the audience scares you into doing it right. It really works.

Nice.

Still think a Dickey appearance would be nice as well.

Q: What are you planning for the 40-year anniversary shows?

A: We're trying to get everybody we ever played with together. Have them all bring their whole band, different opening act every night. Got an e-mail into Clapton and he e-mailed back: "No matter how hard I have to bend, it would be an honour" -- "honour" with a "u." He's a nice guy. He should bring [Steve] Winwood with him.

With all the "Clapton at The Beacon" rumours the past few years, it looks like we may actually get him on stage with our guys this time.

...we'll see. Sounds promising though.

Oh and...No more Cher/Lawler jokes please...- we've had enough.

Personally I'd rather see Steve Winwood on stage with the ABB. Could you imagine hearing his voice with Warren and Gregg's?
Yeah - I'm hoping for him, too. But the history Eric has with members of this band...

I'd like to hear Eric play on some ABB tunes. But you can almost guess which songs they would play with him on stage- Queen of Spades, Layla . . .

But remember Gregg has made interview comments about a new studio album almost as often as Microsoft has delayed shipment of their software.

A Wet Willie reunion!!!!!!!There was a time when everytime I went to see the Bros WW was opening...I love those guys.

An acoustic opening set with Warren, Gregg, Derek, and Levon Helm would be sweet.

Boz Scaggs, if for no other reason than to let everyone work out on Loan Me A Dime

John Hammond and Otis Rush would be pretty cool too

I can see it now. Slowhand and Derek just wailing away on Layla and Gregg taking the piano coda. Whoa baby!!!

Or Chuck Leavell sitting in, also, and wailing on the piano coda.

EC has had an exclusive deal with Fender for quite a while ;as much as we'd all like to hear him on an LP or SG I don't think it'll happen.
