my heart is breaking & tears are flowing as i try to type--my close friends' son,32 years of age was killed in this despicable war.

he leaves a loving wife,3 wonderful, adorable, sweet children & 2 very broken & grieving parents. His parents & i speak regularly & their son & his family were their life.We all feared daily...but still could not fathom such a horrible outcome.i am very sad & all i ask is for anyone here who wishes to offer their prayers & goodness to a wonderful family....& in memory of a good boy...

What a shame, but he died doing a most noble thing. I hope his family finds some comfort in that. I am grateful for his sacrifice.

Please identify him Effie. I'd like to know more about the man.

Oh Effie... My heart breaks for your friend, his family, and all those who love this fallen soldier (and for us 'at home' who are loosing some of our best men and women to war.) My thoughts and prayers are with all of you with special comforting thoughts going out to his wife, children, and parents as they deal with this and begin rebuilding their lives.

My deepest condolences to your friend. I can't even fathom such a loss. My children are precious.

Sure puts a perspective on my trivial MLB-playoff concerns.

Wide River To Cross--Performed by Levon Helm--Dirtfarmer album

There's a sorrow in the wind
Blowing down the road I've been
I can hear it cry while shadows steal the sun

But I cannot look back now
I've come too far to turn around
And there's still a race ahead that I must run

I'm only halfway home, I've gotta journey on
To where I'll find, find the things I have lost
I've come a long long road but still I've got some miles to go
I've got a wide, a wide river to cross

I have stumbled, I have strayed
You can trace the tracks I made
All across the memories my heart recalls
But I'm still a refugee, won't you say a prayer for me?
'Cause sometimes even the strongest soldier falls

I'm only halfway home, I've gotta journey on
To where I'll find, I'll find the things I have lost
I've come a long long road but still I've got some miles to go
I've got a wide, a wide river to cross

I'm only halfway home, I've gotta journey on
To where I'll find, I'll find the things that I have lost
I've come a long long road but still I've got some miles to go
I've got a wide, a wide river to cross
I've got a wide, a wide river to cross
