Leon Russell
Concert For Bangladesh

Jumping Jack Flash / Young Blood

Been a while, dug it out and played that....................

'The proverbial "He Stole The Show"..............

Now that cut is one slice of vintage, pure, adrenal, high octane, REAL Rock and Roll.....

Not the best guitar solo, not the best bass line, no drum solo, but Leon ignites the stage.

For a brief couple of years, Leon was king of the world, some know what I'm talking about....

"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........"

Leon, and Billy Preston doing "That's The Way God Planned It" are some of my favorite moments in rock history.

That was my introduction to Leon. I had the good fortune of seeing him in concert
many times back in the day. Good good memories.

Leon really nailed it that night. Highlight of the concert. I've seen him several times the last 5 years and he's really dropped. Barely can hear him above the sound mix; his backup singers look like the crowd at Yogi's rather than the bartenders.

Funny. I like Leon a lot, but that is my least favorite part of that concert, well, maybe other than Ringo forgetting the words to "It Don't Come Easy". Not that I have anything against it, it's just my least favorite part.

Enjoyed it myself, but again, not my fav part of that show. Leon had quite a bit of notarity already having been the 'musical director' of the Joe Cocker Mad Dogs and Englishmen extravaganza, but it did give him the national spotlight for a number of years.

Leon rocks!!! Love his Jumping Jack Flash and when he goes into Youngblood, well ... He has contributed so much to so many artists over the years, along with his solo work. Was lucky to see him a few times back in the day and again recently. He's slowed somewhat but he can still boogie woogie those ivories and his ballads are dreamy. Can't understand why he is continually overlooked for RRHF - there is a petition out there that is a testiment to the many lives he's touched with his music.

Man I grew up with that record specifically "a couple numbers from Leon"

Love that Jumpin Jack Flash/Yougblood/Jumpin Jack flash into Harrisons Here comes the sun. I must have played that side of the record a million times growing up!

Great performance, also the the version from Leon Live, love that album, played it to death when it came out. Love the picture of him on the front in that top hat, what a hippie!

Have never seen the video before, I know, live a sheltered life. Wow! I like how Leon casually sips a Coke at the end..... It's fairly amazing he does the fast paced ad lib and never misses anything.........

I was a Leon fan prior to the "Concert For Bangla Desh", but his performance in that just raised the bar. I think I listened to this performance so much it tainted the version I heard on Leon Live (too bad I had the flu or I would've been immortalized on vinyl by being in the audience that night in Long Beach)...just didn't seem to have the punch or power of the Bangla Desh performance.

Although, I probably would've had a whole different attitude about the Long Beach performance had I actually BEEN in the audience.
