Are the ABB definitely opening tomorrow for Phil and Friends? Also, does anyone know if tomorrows show has a general admission standing area closest to the stage? I haven't got my tickets yet because iit's usually cheaper and easier to get better seats only hours before the show, from the box office...thanks

So the Allman Brothers are opening for a band fronted by a bass player....

Defend Phil Lesh all you want, this makes no sense to me, no way would I fork out my cash to listen to the bros. open for this guy, no way.

I'd pay money to see the Allman Brothers open for any band on the planet, because you still get to see the Allman Brothers...

Rossman,

The only shows that the ABB are opening for Phil & Friends are the VA Beach and Charlotte shows. This information can be found on the Home Page of this site.

Sweet! That means there are seats for me. Anyone else gonna stay away? I'd love some more room to groove!

Interesting comment, and of course it is your opinion. I won't argue the point other than to say I don't understand the logic or relevance of stating the Bros are opening for a band fronted by a bass player, and there is no sense to that.

These shows should be special, I envy anyone who has the opportunity to go see these two great bands in the same night.

I guess I won't see you at any Police shows any time soon?

On any co-bill, all you're going to get is 2 hours ABB any way you see it. Why bash Phil? I'm sure Warren will be coming out on both nights to jam with PL,and F. If you don't like it, leave and give the dancers more room. I will admit I didn't care for Ratdog, but many did at DTE. Then they stuck around and jammed with ABB, but were there for Bob. Phil headlining will probably bring some new ABB fans to the fold.

Easily one of the most dopey, narrow-minded things I've read here in quite a while. Sorry, but you just kind of insulted every Bass player out there by saying that. Bass players are not good enough to front a band? Where does that logic come from? Besides that, Phil Lesh is easily as influential, legendary and vital as The Allman Brothers Band in the Jam music scene and that is why both bands decided to do a dual headling tour together. The open minded, real music fans will be very hapy to hear you won't be attending and forking over your cash as you say.

BIGV, you should know better than to give your opinion when it does not go along with the masses.

If they are both playing equal length sets, what difference does it make who goes first? If you don't want to see Phil, go home early. People get so outraged over the most incosequential things sometimes.

I'm seeing Phil open for the Crowes Sun, also equal sets. I might go home early myself!

The only time I saw Phil and Friends I enjoyed the show much better than I thought I would. I did not go to sleep.

I have quite a few "shows" from Phil and Friends also, good stuff.

Actually, if there is a front man for Phils band its Jackie Greene. He sings all the songs, plays lead on most, acoustic, b-3 and harp. And even if Phil leads them, your comment is absurd at best.

I didnt like the Dead, but Phils band changed that, Ratdog didnt. Consider yourself lucky to see a living legend, even if he is "only the bass player". And tell me this after the show, HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ANYONE PLAY BASS LIKE THAT?

Hmmmm, too bad they're not opening for Paul McCartney, then.

I admit, I felt the same way a few years back when both bands played in Charlotte. The Brothers opened and PL&F closed. In reality, The Brothers should close this time in Charlotte.
But, that show really made me a fan of Phil Lesh, who at that time, I did not even know who he was. You could imagine my thoughts about who the hell is this Phil Lesh closing the show. I knew Warren played with him, which made it ok with me.

So nowadays, with Gregg's health issues keeping him from Wanee. I am just pumped as hell that they are coming to town. I am looking forward to Phil's show too. Then next week its on to Atlanta for 2 more shows. I am so glad they are back on the road.

Dopey?...It was just my opinion.... Look, as much as I think the Grateful Dead were the epitome of "The Emperor's new clothes"... I never talk Sh*t about them. I realize there are hordes of fans that worship the ground J.G. walked on, I tried and tried, saw the dead about 5 times in the 70's & 80's...usually because a friend dragged me off kicking and screaming....and?... I'd rather be blind, crippled and crazy. I thought they were/are terrible.

Sacrilege! Speaking illy of the Grateful Dead on the Allman Brothers web site.

And on another note of contention, I don't see the Allman Brothers as a Jam band. They are a blues outfit. An aggressive, guitar oriented, blues band..with rough edges...everything the Dead were never...

And I'm sure all will have a great time, whether I'm there or not.

"Open minded real music fans"...ha, don't make me laugh..I'll put my concert experience under the microscope any day of the week.

You're an open minded music fan right?... I suppose you went and saw and were in full support of Dickey Betts touring with Kid Rock?

or did you stay away because you think Kid Rock sucks?...

To each their own..

That is just stupid

THe Beach to Peach show at VA Beach 2001 when the ABB opened for Phil is a killer show. One of the best
ABB shows I have seen.

Glad I was there.

Phil and Derek were pretty good also.

And I had a great time with some other Peach heads and Dead heads in the lot before the show.

See what you missed with a silly attitude.

Sure wish I was seeing ABB open for Phil&Friends. Opening ABB is better than no ABB any day (and you know that there will be some back and forth jamming going on with various band members).
