Ok, so recently I bought some groceries at our local Harris Teeter. The cashier informed me that I had saved like $19.00 with my VIC card and then I saved $2.47. I didn't quite understand what she was talking about but when I got home, I looked at the receipt and she had given me a SENIOR CITIZEN'S DISCOUNT! Talk about feeling old........

So, today I go again to the same grocery store. I bought some groceries and when I checked out I asked the cashier that was waiting on me about the senior citizens discount program. I said "how old do you have to be to get this discount? Ok - this really made me feel low....... SIXTY YEARS OLD!!!

Hidomighty! For those of you who know me, I mean, do I look that old? I am only 50............

No way that you look 60 Susie or even 50 for that matter. I guessed that you and rottin were both in your mid-late 40's.

What Dan said, Susie. I've only seen you in pictures but no way do you look 60. One question ... how old was the cashier that gave you that discount? Because if they were fairly young (talking teenage years here) their outlook on what might constitute a senior citizen can not be trusted! LOL (I remember being that young and thinking over 30 was old ... now that I'm 54 I realize the error of my ways )

It's a Gastonia thing! Half the time I get the senior citizen discount at the Goodwill on East Franklin and I am 45! By the way, you don't look a day over 40...

Don't shop there John, they may have to call the manager to calculate your discount.

I am 58 and got carded in a bar in an airport recently. Since my hair is completely grey, I thought the bartender was just being polite. Turns out they card everyone. It had something to do with an age discrimination complaint.

I found that in a Boston food store recently, bought some wine, got carded, house rules.

Brett, you made me laugh so much! Actually it was in the big town of Shelby (go figure, right?) where that happened.

I decided that if I look that old to some, it must be all the late nights I am out with John and some ABB family at all the concerts we have been going to lately!!

Thanks, everyone, for your cool comments. Made my day.

i second that opinion, take a discount where ya can...more money in your pocket is a good thing, especially in these economic times! and no, you do not look senior citizen age, but again, kids these days think 30 is old, so take it for what it's worth!
