I haven't been able to get Breathe or Comfortably Numb out of my head after Rick Wright's death. I've never been a huge Pink Floyd fan enough to follow them closely, so after his death I spent a lot of time on youtube checking out the songs I know from different eras. Amazing how big of a sound the five of them (extra guitarist) were able to get at Live8, and then comparing it to the Waters-less versions in the 80s and 90s it didn't sound any "bigger" but they must've had 15 people on stage playing.

In any event, I've found myself walking around the house humming those two songs the past couple of weeks. Starting to get to me....

"Let's Go Band"

My son was practicing this for band this morning .
Over and over again. On clarinet.

At least he can play the bloody thing, though ...

Hey I played this song when I was in 4th grade band!! But that was almost 30 years ago!! I played saxophone. The music teacher was an assshole and before long everybody, including myself quit the band. He would threaten the students all the time and never encourage them like teachers were supposed to. I never touched the sax since and never will ever again.

Over last weekend I had the entire instrumental break for LIGHT MY FIRE (The Doors) in my head!!

The part features Ray Manzarek's Vox organ solo and his repetetive keyboard bass line. Also Robbie's guitar.

"Time off for bad behavior," David Allan Coe

(Just bought "Live at Billy Bob's, Texas" yesterday. )

I'm up and gone at the crack of dawn,
I've been working like a regular dog,
To keep my woman and the lights and the water and the phone turned on . . .
