I was a Fan for almost 40 years. Last night I heard the Allman Borothers along with The Greatfull Dead were goning to play at Penn State for Barack Obama the Marxist Socialist. You're Outta Here. All your albums, mostly pristine records, T-Shirts, posters...etc are going to the trash or maybe target practise. If I hear your music on the radio........I'm changing stations. AMF

Excellent ideas! Not posting on this site anymore would probably really stick it to the band too!

Last I checked, roughly...very roughly...1/2 of the country supports Obama/Dems....maybe I should hate/abandon 50% of the people I see? gimme a break, dude.

It's a concert. It's politics. It's not cancer.

Being a Right Winger myself, i was a little disappointed that they were gonna do the benefit too, but i wasn't shocked.
they seem like they were always democrats (they're from that liberal era), they played at jimmy carter's party too (barak and carter are the same except for skin color, and look what carter did to the country....gas lines, welfare spending, weak foriegn policy, americans held hostage for 444 days in iran....ect). With that being said (and i don't want to debate that here, i want to talk about ABB on this site not politics), i'll still listen, and go see ABB, DTB, Mule, DBB, ect. I just hope they don't go the way my fellow New Jersey neighbors springsteen and bon jovi went, pushing it down peoples throats (why do they think we should listen to them talk about politics anyway? their forte is music not political science...), because if ABB started acting like that it would turn me off. And hey, i pay their salary, i go to at least 4 shows a year, and the good seats too. I'm paying them to listen to their music, not their political views......lol
but anyway i can't wait for the beacon........

Well I am not in the Obama posse by any stretch of the imagination but I would never let the ABB pulling for him get in the way of myself enjoying the music I have been listening to since 1971. Politics are a very personal matter, I cannot judge someone else for the way they feel. Think I will scroll the ipod for the ABB 1973 archival show and give it a listen this morning!

I have to admit, Bobby Weir made me register again after about 8 years of not voting. I still don't see the point of it because I live in NYC and because of the electoral college, but hey, why not give the vote thing one more try.

As for the band talking about their politics, I would love to hear them do that. But they don't. Not more than get out and vote. And I guess one can assume that they are for O'Bama since they are doing a concert for him, though still not one of them have said who they are voting for.

I am going to the concert/Fund Raiser and am thrilled to be able to do that. Being in a room of mostly like minded people and hopefully to hear some politics discussed as well as to hear some great music.

As for fans who aren't interested, well, then don't go. Personally, it has endeared me more to them. If this concert makes you want to throw the ABB out with the bath water, well IT'S A FREE COUNTRY. It's a free country for the ABB members as well.

Not to be political, but I thought there should be fairness in reporting here. :-)

No it was directed at the whiner who started the thread. Your post was reasonable. I support Obama but I totally agree with you as long as they don't try to cram it down everyone's throats

That's the one, Chuck is the star of that show, along with Lamar. Right now that is my favorite live ABB show out of all the ones I have.

Bingo. This tossing of all things Allman - what about friendships or other relationships, XAF? Would you end a long term relationship/friendship based on that persons political views?
