North American Fall 2008 Neil Young Tour Schedule
Dates for Neil Young's North American Fall 2008 tour have been announced. The news confirms some of the rumors we've been following recently. From Live Nation:

October 14 - St. Paul, MN -- Xcel Energy Center / on sale August 22
16 - Winnipeg, MN -- MTS Centre / on sale August 22
18 - Regina, SK -- Brandt Centre / on sale August 22
19 - Calgary, AB -- Pengrowth Saddledome / on sale August 22
21 - Everett, WA -- Comcast Arena at Everett / on sale
September 12
22 - Vancouver, BC -- GM Place / on sale August 22
29 - San Diego, CA -- Cox Arena / on sale August 25
30 - Los Angeles, CA -- The Forum / on sale August 25

November 1 - Reno, NV -- Events Center / on sale August 23
4 - Kansas City, MO -- Sprint Center / on sale September 12
5 - Omaha, NE -- Qwest Center / on sale September 12
29 - Halifax, NS -- Metro Centre / on sale August 23

December 1 - Montreal, PQ -- Bell Centre / on sale September 13
2 - Ottawa, ON -- Scotia Bank Place / on sale August 22
4 - Toronto, ON -- Air Canada Centre / on sale August 22
7 - Detroit, MI -- Palace of Auburn Hills / on sale
September 12
9 - Chicago, IL -- Allstate Arena / on sale September 12
12 - Philadelphia, PA -- Wachovia Spectrum / on sale
September 19
13 - Boston/(Worcester), Massachusetts -- DCU Center
15 - New York, NY -- Madison Square Garden / on sale
September 15

The concerts will feature the same band that he has toured Europe with: Ben Keith, Rick Rosas, Chad Cromwell, Anthony Crawford and Pegi Young.

Death Cab For Cutie and Everest will support dates from October 14 through November 5; Wilco and Everest are on the bill for dates starting November 29 through the tour's conclusion, with the exception of the December 9 Chicago date which will feature (TBD) and Everest in support.

Probably one of the most interesting aspects of the announcement is that all shows for this tour will be general admission floor with reserved seating in the stands. This is great news for those of us who had to be restrained from standing and moving during "No Hidden Path".

General admission tickets will be prices at $75.00 with reserved stand tickets ranging in price from $45.00 to $250.00.

If anyone is looking to get tickets for Worcester Mass, they have a presale thru the DCU Center tomorrow for a few hours. PM me if you want details otherwise the regular sale is Fri thru TM!

I read a recent interview with Neil wherein he called Americans "stupid people" and America "a stupid country." Now he has the nerve to come to Americans and ask them to pay $100+ a seat? He really must think we are stupid.

There's this tour chart that states how many times songs were played and where.

European shows got excellent reviews. Show i saw was awesome. It's electric - acoustic - electric. He plays some of his classics but also more obscure stuff. Throughout the European tour he has played some songs he hasn't played since the seventies !!
Lot's of long guitar jams and typical feedback explorations. He still delivers !!!
Just don't expect a greatest hits kinda show.
BTW "Everest" is a very nice support act. Poppy alt-country/folk.

Here's the setlist of the show i saw:

Venue: Bospop Festival
Location: Weert, The Netherlands
Date: 11-July-2008

01 Powderfinger 07:12
02 Mr Soul 05:39
03 Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere 04:45
04 I've Been Waiting For You 04:13
05 For The Turnstiles 04:12
06 Down By The River 16:40
07 Oh, Lonesome Me 04:51
08 Mother Earth0 06:29
09 Needle And The Damage Done 03:13
10 Unknown Legend 05:02
11 Heart Of Gold 03:14
12 Old Man 03:58
13 Get Back To The Country 03:08
14 Words 15:50
15 No Hidden Path 27:37
16 A Day In The Life (Encore) 07:58

Line Up:
Neil Young - guitar, harmonica, pump organ, vocals
Ben Keith - pedal steel, lap steel, guitar, organ, background vocals
Rick Rosas - bass, background vocals
Chad Cromwell - drums
Pegi Young - background vocals, piano, vibraphone
Anthony Crawford - background vocals, guitar, piano
Larry Cragg - banjo

the set list seemed pretty constant and packed with favorites. doesn't look like he's doing an acoustic set - too bad

Ticket prices for MSG are crazy, and with the ABB 40th anniversary Beacon run around the corner with Mountain Jam shortly after I have to pick my spots and save some money. So I will pass on this one. I have seen Neil live many times with different bands and he always delivers. Hope everyone going has a blast!!!

Wow ya got that right. Huge fan of Neil being Canadian but the tix in the stands at the ACC in Toronto are $250 per seat. Of course the GA floors at 75.00 are sold out. First time I've seem Neil sell out literally! Too bad.

I took nothing out of context. He said what he said and it's applicable to a discussion of the artist and his tour.

I really liked the early Neil Young, but I have not been crazy about his style of playing since he became 'grunge'. Just sounds like slamming chords now-no clean guitar sounds.

Thanks mglowenstein for clearing up the facts of that article! I'm like you - love Neil and really looking forward to this tour and if the setlists posted earlier (and in links) are any indication of what I'll be hearing him do this time around, well, I'll be very happy (although with Neil it's like with Dylan - there are so many good songs you can always think of another you'd like to hear, too )
