A pretty bad list this year. Jeff Beck and Stooges are good. Run DMC is not.
Time to play the annual game of who has been snubbed.

Here's the list of nominees:
Run-D.M.C.
Metallica
Stooges
Jeff Beck
Wanda Jackson
Little Anthony and the Imperials
War
Bobby Womack
Chic

Keep in mind 5 of these will go in. It's hard to believe Beck has been turned down before.

I guess he wasn't turned down, but not put on a ballot. SRV not put on the ballot this year really doesn't surprise me as the R and R Hall seems to be more about an artists sales than talent. With that said I am surprised about Bon Jovi.

They seem to hate prog rock and hard rock - no Genesis, Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Tull, Deep Purple.

I am actually glad that Bon Jovi did not make the ballot. If they got in before Jeff Beck, I would have to hurt someone.

I agree on both parts bands like Yes, Genesis, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, Moody Blues should be in. Just look at how long there carrers are and how some had success in different eras like Yes, Genesis and the Moody Blues.

KISS should be in just because VanHalen is in and they were an influence plus they sold a boatload of records and there marketing schemes were good to.

I saw a 60 Minutes piece on Neil Diamond a few months back. I can't believe he's not in yet, and he really wants it.

Someone mentioned Alice Cooper on one of these threads. I'll agree with that and I'd like to add in Tommy James (with or without the Shondells).

Just my 2 cents

You know, I used to get so irritated, but none of it really makes sense. And the longer it goes on the more pointless the whole thing becomes.

Great list - I'm going to celebrate by listening to all of Run DMC's rock and roll albums.

I'm done.

Heh. To be fair though, I'll go ahead and listen to all of the Run DMC recordings that influenced the rock and roll that came later on.

I'm done.

I'll admit Run DMC is the most efficient choice this year. Think about it . . . you can listen to their entire contribution to rock and roll in no time at all . . .
