The line-up of reformed rock legends Led Zeppelin could be in doubt - they are reportedly looking to replace singer Robert Plant.

The rockers reunited for an historic gig last year - and rumors of a full world tour have dogged the band ever since.

Frontman Plant attempted to end the speculation by hitting the road with country star Alison Krauss.

But the rest of the group have reportedly been rehearsing with stand-in singers - and are now said to be considering replacing Plant altogether.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "They've been rehearsing frequently in London and the band is really gelling. There's an American guy who has been standing in for Robert regularly and doing a great job.

"Obviously they want the original frontman to join them on the road but he still won't commit. They will be finalising plans for shows over the next couple of months and will tell Robert that if he doesn't want to be involved they will go ahead without him."

If they tour they better call them self's something other than Led Zeppelin. But in all probability this is just a rumor hopefully.

If Page and Plant toured together as "Page and Plant," then surely Page and Jones can do the same. No Plant, no Zep.

Highly doubt this is true but if it is, I may never listen to Zep again....that would be the worst thing they could ever do.

The Who tour as the Who without Entwistle and Moon....as disappointing as it would be without Plant if Led Zep went out on the road with a different lead singer they would still pack houses everywhere in the world for sure....I agree it wouldnt be the same but it would still be huge!

This is from the Sun

LED ZEPPELIN frontman ROBERT PLANT is to be given an ultimatum by his bandmates – join us on tour or we’ll replace you.
Zep guitarist JIMMY PAGE, bassist JOHN PAUL JONES and drummer JASON BONHAM have been busy recently rehearsing in West London’s Ritz Studio and using stand-in vocalists.

And one American singer has been so impressive the other band members are confident they could hit the road next year WITHOUT their iconic frontman.

Brummie-born belter Plant has refused to take part in any practice sessions as he is currently committed to his side project with country singer ALISON KRAUSS.

A source said: “Jimmy, Jason and John are determined a tour will go ahead next year.

“They’ve been rehearsing frequently in London and the band is really gelling.

There’s an American guy who has been standing in for Robert regularly and doing a great job.

“Obviously they want the original frontman to join them on the road but he still won’t commit.

“They will be finalising plans for shows over the next couple of months and will tell Robert that if he doesn’t want to be involved they will go ahead without him.”

While fans would be disappointed if Plant was not involved, the shows would still fill arenas worldwide.

Mighty
The band’s followers are among the most dedicated in rock and would jump at the chance to witness Page, Jones and original drummer JOHN BONHAM’s son Jason tearing through mighty rock classics such as Kashmir and Whole Lotta Love.

I understand Plant’s reluctance to revisit the past but the group’s one-off reunion show at London’s O2 in December was an incredible success.

The only shame was that more fans couldn’t witness it.

In that night’s post-gig euphoria Plant came round to his pals’ plan for more shows. But has since cooled on the idea.

If he does not take part it remains unclear whether the group will be allowed to use the name Led Zeppelin.

A version of classic American rockers THE DOORS, featuring guitarist ROBBY KRIEGER and keyboard player RAY MANZAREK, had to change their name in 2005 after the estate of late lead singer JIM MORRISON objected to them being called THE DOORS OF THE 21st CENTURY.

Just hope the Led Zeppelin rock titans don’t call their group Tin Zeppelin...

I'm personally opposed to it. Zep with Jason Bonham is cool, but no Plant, no Zep.

As if Robert Plant would not know all of this already.

These guys have had a plan all along. Commitments must be met first and then decisions made.

Even in a world where they play without Plant, they would not call it Led Zeppelin. They didn't do it with Page/Plant so they sure won't now.

Their publicist is doing a good job keeping their name floating in the media though.

Being at the O2 show I agree that not to take that on the road for few shows would be a crime. However, for as good as Jason Bonham was if Plant was not in the mix I think it would be nothing more than a cash grab and definitely not Led Zeppelin. Page Jones and Friends? My 2cents

Jason Bonham Quits Foreigner, Working With Original Led Zepellin Members

Blabbermouth.net reports: The eight-minute audio interview with drummer Jason Bonham conducted this past Friday morning (August 22) by the "JJ & Lynne" morning show on the 94.7 WCSX station in Detroit, Michigan is available for download as an MP3 file at this location. During the interview, Bonham revealed that he is leaving FOREIGNER at the end of this month and that he has been jamming with LED ZEPPELIN Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.

Jason, who was born in England and now lives in Florida, said, "I've been over [to England] a couple of times. I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying to do just do some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. . . At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there, I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me; it's my life, it's what I've dreamed about doing."

Jason added, "My time with FOREIGNER is coming to an end. This is the first time I've talked about it. I leave at the end of this month . . . I'm looking forward to taking some time out to be with the family really. Since I moved to America I've been on the road, so my first priority is to go and watch my kids grow up, because they've grown up way to fast in the last four years."

I saw Zep in 75, and 77. I saw Plant, and Page in 97. I'll pass on this.

Let hope that Page and Jones don't "Journey ized" Led Zeppelin. To tell the truth, I don't see them doing a Led Zeppelin tour without Plant.

I would disagree. [note I think it can't be Led Zep without Plant]
Remember the band Page played in BEFORE Zeppelin?
Jimmy Page has always been the main draw in Zeppelin.
And I remember a great tour in the mid '80s as "The Firm"
Jimmy with the Black Crowes was fantastic.

Robert Plant solo is boring.

Page, Jones & Bonham can easily get a new singer if Plant wants to babysit with Alison.
There have been many rumors of new Page songs anyway. Jones is still in great musical form.
I would like to see new material from Mr. Page.

I know people will be disgusted for me saying this. And before I do, I want to note that I AM a big Zeppelin fan and do not think it should be Zeppelin if Plant is not there... BUT I have always thought that Plant was the weakest link by far of the band. That is not on an image standpoint, but purely musical.

Sometimes Plant's voice and/or lyrics bother me. That's not to say that I don't like a lot of what he's done with the band. And again, I don't think it's quite fair to say "Led Zeppelin" (at this point) without him, Page or Jones there.

That being said, should they do this, I will go and check out what they do. I do however think this is just bs fabricated either by the media or by the band's management.

Sorry but

PAGE, PLANT, JONES & JOHN BONHAM were LED ZEPPELIN (period). Accept no substitutes or alterior motives. Do not buy into some retro stroll down memory lane - big cash grab BS.
