Obama's teleprompter hits the trail
Posted: 06:50 PM ET

Obama delivers his remarks at the Colorado State Fair with a teleprompter.

(CNN) It appears Barack Obama's teleprompter is hitting the campaign trail.

The Democratic presidential nominee has never tried to hide the fact he delivers speeches off the device, though normally he doesn't use one at standard campaign rallies and town hall events.

But the Illinois senator used a teleprompter at both his Colorado events Monday making for a particularly peculiar scene in Pueblo, where the prompter was set up in the middle of what is normally a rodeo ring.

No doubt - it's not like McCain has not used a teleprompter to get through his own speeches. Non-issue.

Yep, no sexism at all.

Unreal.

Folks, Derek has the "sexism" meme and is repeating it like a good little Rush-bot. Just ignore it.

Not I. Wasn't sure what 'sexist crap' Derek was referring to.

Bigann did in the "Unbelievable" thread, Squatch has a couple of times, Lespaul58, on and on. But if it is Obama, "Hey, isn't it cool that he even brings a teleprompter to a rodeo ring? Golly darn, I'd do it too."

Don't think anybody in this thread said anything about it being cool - just not surprising one was used for a speech event. (I know for a fact nobody said 'golly darn'! )

I never commented on whether or not she should or shouldn't use a teleprompter.....here is the exchange

Question: Did she ever say "America was a nation founded on 'crime and hatred"? Or anything like for the first time she is now proud of her country?

My response: Not unless someone else wrote it for her to read from the teleprompter.

The reference was to her using other people's words....not using the teleprompter. Sorry.

I don't know why he would use a teleprompter. It's not like the opposition is hanging on his every word, hoping to make a federal case out of putting a few words wrong. Or is it?

Bush uses a big ole book with about three lines on each thick, hard page, and I don't know what McCain uses ,but he stops and looks at it about every third word, so I don't know what the big deal about the teleprompter is.

It's a speaking tool that speakers use. Big deal.

Sure would be nice if The Enlightened One would flip back to his original position on townhall forums. Then we could see both candidates without teleprompters and taking questions from regular folks.

Major point- quit ducking the town hall meetings with every day Americans, side by side. Pretty simple.

Yes. It seems like Obama could wipe the floor with McCain in one of these debates, but he won't even try.

He'd get his ass handed to him which is precisely what his handlers are afraid of. Either that or put the audience to sleep via his "thoughtful" umming and uhhing.

Between Obama and McCain speaking 'off the cuff' I'm afraid I'd have to hang myself from boredom. Without a teleprompter and prepared speech neither one of them are a William Jennings Bryan.

Aw, hell, ann, poor speaking ability didn't bother the Obama-haters for the last eight years when it came to their guy in the Oval Office. Now it's a vital issue. Cracks me up.

Not true, yet again. While I'm not an Obama hater, I did point out that President Bush was a lousy communicator starting four years ago on here;

Took the first four years for you to figure that out?
