Looking forward to seeing Warren this Saturday night at the Fur Peace Ranch in south east Ohio. It's Jorma Kaukonen's Guitar Ranch. Jack Casady will be present as well and with it being two days after the anniversary of Hendrix death I hope we get a meltdown version of Voodoo Chile. There will only be about 180 people at this show. Have had tickets for 10 months and can't believe it's finally here.

Those shows at Jorma's guitar camp are always great and with Warren it will be out of this world. I envy those who will be there.

From what I hear, the Fur Peace Ranch is one of the coolest music experiences anyone could find. Many great artists have played, or done workshops there. The place is only 90 minutes away from me, but I haven't made it up there yet. I didn't hear about Warren playing there until it was sold out. There is a very cool town right by the ranch called Athens. Some of the best green ever comes from there. There are some very cool record shops and other novelty stores in the town. Check out the link for more on the ranch.http://www.furpeaceranch.com/

My friend sent an audition tape for admission to Jorma's workshop and he didn't get in. They have classes for all different levels but Jorma only teaches very advanced students. Does anyone know what level Warren is teaching and what exactly his workshop will be? I would assume electric slide would be part of it.

Here's the answer:

Warren Haynes Guitar: Electric Level 3 Guitar Unchained
Legendary guitarist Warren Haynes will share the magic of his passionate playing and performance skill in a workshop that promises to be an adventure in exploring the limits of emotion-drenched, artful guitar mastery.

Man do I envy anyone who is actually taking this workshop with Warren. I hope someone here is and will post about the experience. Of course anyone at the Ranch at all this weekend will enjoy a great jam tomorrow night with Jack, Jorma and Warren.

He's participating in Warren's workshop? That's what I really want to hear about. After all, I have heard a lot about Warren performing and even seen it once or twice

I have a friend who has been to Jorma's ranch multiple times. I haven't spoken to him in a while and don't know if he's going this time. He loved it every time he's been there, said he learned a lot, and has some very cool pictures. Those going this particular weekend are very lucky indeed as Warren, Jack, and Jorma have a major respect for eachother as musicians. You will probably witness certain magic in that atmosphere.

Wow, what a beautiful and moving performance. Krishna and Scott and Ang, good seeing you all again and nice meeting Tom who was taking the class with Jack Casady and all the others I met.

While I hesitate to mention this in a public forum , this was my first show of any kind since my father passed away earlier this year so this was a powerful experience. I had written to my good friend John Hurlbut that runs the Fur Peace to ask if he would share my loss with Warren and request a song if possible. He wrote me back Friday to tell me he had done so and to let me know things were going superbly at the Fur Peace and that Warren was doing a great job and having a great time. So thanks to John!

The first set was simply beautiful. The Hallejuah Boulevard and Find My A River were so incredible I almost felt regret for having asked for anything particular seeing these were downright spiritual performances and I was incredibly moved. The rest of the first set was awesome and the Thats Why I'm Here in this setting in front of the true believers in Warren was very fun. Warren was warm and funny and charming all night and the audience ate it up. Having heard Soulshine a million times I was caught of guard by its power over me under these circumstances and it was all I could do to not melt into a puddle of tears. Other people have fathers as good as mine, but it would not be possible to have a better one and hearing this song in that moment and this setting was overwhelming. And this is exactly why I never say a song like this should not be played because in any audience someone is having this kind of experience with this song and Warren knows it.

The Slow Happy Boys with Jack Casady was awesome and Jack and Warren talked about Woody after the song. Jack and Jorma are in their 50th year of playing together and Warren said he would like to think that would have been the same for he and Woody if not for his loss. Then Jorma came out and joined in and said to Warren so now we are going to do another morbid song and laughed and I knew I was going to get what I had asked for, Death Have No Mercy. Amazing moving performance! Again almost overwhelming for me. The rest of the set just got better and better and all 3 were obviously having an amazing time themselves. The I SHall Be Released included Spencer Bohren and was again almost too much for me. No tape of this performance is going to capture what it was really like in this beautiful setting. Just an awesome evening and I could write a lot more but I'll let Jorma himself sum it up.

Warren Haynes is so outstanding, words fail me... and this doesn't happen often. His show tonight at the Fur Peace Station was incredible. he did the first set by himself acoustic and at various times in the second set, Jack, and I joined him for some acoustic as well as electric songs. Spencer Bohren came up for the encore which was I Shall Be Released. I played my Martin as well as a Telecaster that one of my friends lent me.

This was indeed an outstanding evening of music. I hope Warren wants to come back again. Special thanks to Brian Farmer and of course my pal Myron Hart. What a night it was!

Wonderful,Wonderful night of amazing music in a room filled with such incredible, but harmonizing energy!!
Last night is almost too much for words....very,very surreal.
I know it might sound cliche, but you really had to be there to understand.
I am still so overwhelmed with the love & power of love for Warren & the interesting night of music that he gave us all.
And the wonderful "family" of fans or "brother & sisterhood" that Warren has surrounding him both here & everywhere....it's so great.
Everyone has their very own unique personal bond or experience in life that they tie to alot of Warren's lyrics or music.
Thanks to everyone who made me feel so loved last night! (I love all of my Warren "Family" here!)

And what about Jack & Jorma?! (OMG!!)
I will have to say that I was completely dumbfounded on the strong connection that Warren had with Jack & Jorma.
"Death Don't Have No Mercy" was pure magic....it coulda been playing on the opening credits to "Deadwood" or something.
I don't think that I can honestly say that I have ever had that kind of complete spiritual experience at a show before! (And that's alot to say, because I've seen alot of amazing shows)
The power that the intimate environment of the Fur Peace Ranch + all of the incredible vibes & energy coming from the audience of less than 200 was pure magic & complete elation of my soul.
Thanks for taking me to "church" last night,Warren!

Here are two entries from Jorma's diary relating to this weekend. I am still waiting to hear from someone who actually attended Warren's workshop. I wish I could have been there.

What a time it is! The weather for this weekend is absolutely stellar. Blue skies, white clouds, not too hot... not too cool. This is all important because this is our Pick 'n' Putt motorcyle/guitar special weekend. Spenser Bohren is here along with me and Jack Casady. Warren Haynes is here for the first time and it is indeed an honor to host him. The evening campfire last night was perfect and the folks in Warren's room picked almost until 2200.

There are new friends and old here this weekend. I always stay over on the Bike weekend so I've had a chance to hang out with almost everone. Well, my wife and little daughter just came over for breakfast so I'm going down to the Beatrice Love Kitchen to see what they are up to.

Krishna, I was feellin' the vibe last night while at the Farm Aid Fest! We were wearing our Mule shirts! There was chatter at various times with Warren Haynes being the subject and it was so wonderful!! I mentioned at least three times wonder how the show is going... *sigh*

I love hearing how exceptional this experience was... we all feel the love...

I am definitely in for the two acoustic Mule shows on 12/27, 12/28

Just a few more thoughts about this show. I have been told that everyone at the Fur Peace Ranch was as blown away by this as my review and Krishna's would indicate. Including Warren himself who I was told had an absolute blast. They really are hopeful and do believe he enjoyed it enough so they hope that Warren will do it again.

There are seats just to the right of the stage, and while I don't actually know any Mule Army people personally I do know they grabbed those seats in the pew if you will. They had some beautiful and fun bonding moments with Warren. They were like the choir, it was very cool. The fun that Jack and Jorma and Warren had together was quite visible and apparent and just got better and better as the set went on. The love that poured through for Warren was electrifying and he certainly felt it. This really was like having them play in your living room with about 200 of your friends, just amazing!

The intimate introduction from John Hurl and Jorma's wife Vanessa was very cool including her singing a Marilyn/JFK style Happy Brithday to John's brother Pete. The campaign for Jorma for President was fun as well. It was all just too cool for words!

Hope it means we'll get Jack and Jorma again in some form at xmas jam!
