NEW YEARS 2008-2009

For the 7th consecutive year, Gov't Mule will celebrate New Year's in New York City. Due to the on-going renovations at the Beacon Theatre, the band will be relocating, and for the first ever during its New Year's Run, play 4 shows and do so in 2 different venues. On December 27th & 28th, Gov't Mule will play acoustically in the magnificent Angel Orensanz Center on The Lower East Side and then on December 30th & 31st Gov't Mule will play the historic Hammerstein Ballroom. Keeping with tradition, the band will play 3 sets on New Year's Eve.

Much consideration was taken into choosing these venues. The band has always wanted to play Angel Orensanz, a former temple which is a visually and acoustically superb room, and jumped at doing so when the opportunity presented itself. The Hammerstein Ballroom, with its extremely accessible location as well as its mixture of seated balconies (both reserved and general admission) as well as its expansive open floor, will appeal to all of our fans needs. With its location in midtown Manhattan, and its close proximity to public transportation to New Jersey, as well as the Long Island Railroad and Metro North, it is one of the more convenient venues in New York City to reach.

Finally, we will be offering several VIP and travel packages which were designed to give our fans the best experience possible. Details on these packages as well as all on-sale dates, will be announced early next week.

Wow! That Angel Orensanz Center looks to be an amazing place for an acoustic show! What a gorgeous venue! Anybody been to any shows here?

Be aware the word is that if you smoke in the Hammerstein security takes pleasure in throwing you out.

Just letting you know the deal.

That depends on who you are seeing. I saw the Black Crowes there and the security were like stormtroopers busting everyone who lit up. When I saw Phil & Friends there everyone was smoking up like crazy and they didn't even try to bust anyone. The old double standard thing. I would expect the security to be more like they were for the Crowes. Doesn't bother me either way. I'll bring something with me, but only break it out if everyone else does.

Count me in!!! I'm so happy that it's not at the United Palace. Now it's right across the street from Penn Station which will make the whole NYE fiasco much more pleasant.

I hate, I mean absolutely hate the Hammerstein Ballroom as a venue. I expect the place to be a zoo and as much as I want to see the Mule, I might skip the shows there. In terms of location, the place cannot be beat but the sound generally sucks and I just find it difficult to enjoy a show at the venue. Really curious to see how much they charge for the shows there.

I fully understand the concerns about the United Plaace but this would have been a much better venue musically for the band.

Hammerstein=Worst venue in the City. Really nothing redeeming about the whole experience there. Bummed that is where they decided to play but what are you going to do.

Please count me in anyone going from Wilmington Delaware area? Train to penn Station etc...NYC is not driver friendly...drove up for 2 ABB shows @ the Beacon in 2000 3/17 and 3/18 and paid $30 to park @ becon Garage and they damaged my car...no biggie...driving with cab drivers is equal to driving @ bristol with tony stewart out to wreck you. Had a blast though, front row Tix thanks tix Thanks to Lana $ 75 each...show and sneakin backstage...Priceless. MrHtr@aol.com Let me Know any Pre/post Parties..love 2 see a show @ each Venue. seen Gov't Mule @ 1200 seat theater in Wilmington...the Grand Opera House...met warren and Friends Pics etc...then drove to Atlantic City and seen Gov't Mule on a friday nite @ the House of Blues and Warren and Co. Played 2.5 hours + each nite and never played the same song twice...Awesome.
