The Last Rebel had a couple of good songs on it. The acoustic album that followed was pretty ok as well. Then Ed King left, Rickey Medlock was hired, Leon died, and the remains spiraled straight down the sh!tter. The Twenty album made me want to cry.
Long live the spirit of Skynyrd Mach One.

The Last Rebel also appeared on "Endangered Species" an all acoustic release with Ed King & Gary Rossington proving all of the guitar on this excellent 1994 work. This is the best the New Skynyrd has ever sounded...Imho

If you don't have this ...find it...

Have to agree about "Endangered Species" being the best of the New Skynyrd. Of course, many of the songs on the CD are acoustic versions of the old Skynyrd songs. From what I understand for the next CD, Skynyrd is getting some Nashville songwriters to write some songs for them. Of course, that makes me wonder how different that would be from a Van Zant CD? Actually, I wish Johnny and Donnie would tour more as Van Zant as I think that could go over real big, especially with country music fans, than being in LS and 38 Special.

Mike Estes also played guitar, and co-wrote "Devil In A Bottle" on this CD. Mike has been a great friend for over 25 yrs. The reason he was let go from the band was his stance on Ed King staying in the band. He would not be part of their F your buddy club. This is by far their best release post Ronnie, and Allen.

I saw it in Syracuse.

Delbert McClinton opened.

Brickyard Road reminded me of Ronnie's writing.
