Hello Everyone, I'm a good friend of Clay's who lives in Birmingham. Clay's the one that's turned me on to so much music over the last ten years. And he's going to be mad as hell at me for telling everyone this, but last tuesday he had a heart attack. He had major blockage and has had several stints put in. He's also one of the hard headest people I've ever known. He gets out of the hospital on friday, waits until his wife leaves the house and goes outside and starts cutting the grass. From that he ends up back in the hospital.
They want to do bypass surgery and he wont let them. All he wants to do is leave the hospital, and the people that are trying to help him are about ready for HIM to leave. He's probably the worst patient ever! Anyway, I know many people here think alot of him and he needs prayers right now. Prayers for patience as much as anything. He's been told that if he doesn't do what they say needs to be done he will die sooner rather than later.
I'm not going to tell what hospital he's in, cause he doesn't need the phone call, nor does his wife. Any questions can be posted here and if I know the answers I'll answer them . And please pray for me. Cause when he finds out that I've done this I may be the one dying.

Thanks for letting us know Johnny. Clay shouldn't be pissed at you for telling some people that care.

Was one of the first generous souls to help me out around here and always had a kind word for me.

Hope he gets all the help he needs and recovers fully.

Thoughts and prayers headed your way Clay.

First thanks and good luck dealing with Clay!

Tell him Jim Benjamin thinks he might be a bit scared about stuff - deflate some anger away from you.

Also - will be praying for Clay, that he and everyone else involved find the wisdom to discover what's best and to act on it.
Simply gonna pray for Clay's health too.

Man, he's one of the good ones, got to find a way for this to work out like it should.

Everyone should be as lucky as Clay to have a friend like you. I don't know him other than a couple of trades or BnP's, but I know there are people on this site who are close to him and maybe they can set him straight. Prayers for Clay to come to his senses and get himself taken care of.

Hoping Clay is better and soon!

Sounds like the by-pass is needed so I sure hope that's what Clay decides to do.

Get well Clay!

Definely lots of prayers going out to Clay and hopefully Clay will realize that he's going to have to slow down some and take things easy and pretty much follow his Dr's advice. I myself am about the worse person when it comes to going to see doctors, following their advice, ect, but when the serious sh*t goes down, you really don't have any other choices. Let Clay know, people care, and want him to be around for awhile longer, and he's got to his part, by listeing to his doctors.

What he said. Come on, Clay, lots of folks need you, and I'm not talking about us (though we need you too).

In the meantime, you have my prayers and best wishes.

I just talked to him and what he's going to do is go to UAB in Birmingham for the surgery.
Probably towards the end of the week. He's just doesn't trust anyone in Dothan to cut on him. He will be going home later today and I'm sure he will post here.

Quit being so darn hard-headed, Clay Pelland

You'll probably feel like a new man once you have the bypass.

It may not be the case anymore but at one time Dothan actually had some of the best heart doctors around, they did or do very good work. UAB is good too.

That is great news. If Clay feels like I do about my local hospital, [band-aid station] I totally understand. The University hospitals are much better.

I've been thinking about Clay alot lately due to some other health matters he is facing. Sorry to hear about the recent heart situation - thanks, Johnny for sharing this information.

Clay - you've been on my prayer list for some time but I'm working in some extra thoughts for you here and will be sending comforting and healing prayers out to you in Birmingham as you face this surgery. Terri is right - you will probably feel like a new man once you've had the bypass. And think how much more fun you can have playing with the kids and keeping up! You take care - those comforting thoughts are being sent for your family, too.

If I had a couple dollars for everytime I've said "thanks Clay", I'd have enough cash to drive to Dothan and mow his yard myself....
