I find myself here listening to Big Brother and, yes, Janis at the Winterland '68. Wow! Just amazing stuff! Bye Bye Baby!

Any fans around?

Oh yes, definitely! Bye, Bye Baby is one of those tunes that highlighted both the softness and the rawness she could produce with her voice (which are some of the things I think really point to her influences of some of the early female blues singers). Janis was one of my earliest concert experiences - blew my young mind.

I always liked Janis' voice, but I never thought she ever had a backing band that matched her talent. (ditto with Jimi...although Band Of Gypsys was close)

A Janis fan? Always and forever! Sometimes I think I hear a touch of Janis in Susan's vocals.

Another one who left way to early. Janis sure gave it her all when she performed.
Love Big Brother & the Holding Company and Cheap Thrills.

A tortured soul who was meant to sing the blues

Yep, me too. The first time I ever heard Susan was live and I couldn't help but notice some similarities. Good stuff!

While this is true to some extent, the rawness of Big Brother brought out the best in Janis. The smoother the backing the less I liked her singing
