Spectacular album. Best Petty record in 15 years. Some good guitar jamming on it between Campbell and some Leadon. Here is a taste:

It looks like it's 2/3 of the Petty band and sounds like them.

Actually 3/5 of TPATHB , a prequel to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Mudcrutch is one of the best new CDs I've bought in the last 10 years. Played the hell out of it in the last few months. These guys need to do a small theater tour on the east coast.

The Mudcrutch CD is one of the best CDs to come out in the past year. I especially like the fact that Tom Petty decided to go back and record his "old band". Tom has always loved Mudcrutch, and I think he was "heartbroken" when back in the 70s it turned out that MCA just wanted him and not the rest of his band. BTW, Phil Walden of Capricorn Records had a chance to sign Mudcrutch back in 70s, but turned them down because they were "to British sounding". I also hope Mudcrutch does a theater tour, and because Mudcrutch is from Florida, that the ABB will invite them to play Wanee next year.

When Tom announced that he was reuniting Mudcrutch, I have to admit, I didn't get it. I thought, why bother? Because along with TP, Heartbreakers, Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench were in Mudcrutch. Oh, I should've known better than to second guess TP! This is the best music Tom has released in years! It's my fave album of 2009, so far.

Mudcrutch's album instantly became one of my favorites when I first gave it a listen . I think those guys cut the whole thing in two weeks , but it's one for the ages in my book .
