DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know my opinion means naught. But ...

for the shear hell of it, here is what I think the ABB should do for their 40th.
(This is not gonna be a let Dickey sit in for me since this has already been discussed
ad nauseum elsewhere). Plus right now I'm all hopped up on caffeine.

I say all costs be DAMNED! Union fees, venue fees, Ticket bastard fees, fees on
fees, supposed fee-less fees, rehearsal fees, whatever. Not many bands can say
hey 40 years, man.

This is obviously a work in progress, so I need a jumping off point:

First off, we do not need another compilation. I doubt there will be new studio recordings,
so it really comes down as a celebration of the BAND. Past and Present.

So, the Beacon run. FILM it all. Look at the WHO on the last tour they did two years ago.
They were able to provide a live DVD or CD or both from every single show they played
last year. Fans scooped ( ) them up big time. I cannot believe that MGT thinks the fans
won't jump on something like this. Like I said, costs be DAMNED! I say a DVD and or CD of
ALL the bloody Beacon shows. This is a once a lifetime chance. 40 f'g years guys, do it in
bloody style, eh?

What to play? EVERYTHING of course! Do the first 4 albums in entirety ( I say them because it
is Duane era and Dickey led projects will most likely get jettisoned, trying to be somewhat
realistic). Reach into the vaults, find Duane's solo album takes that are in the can, play them
no matter how bad. If Dickey stuff can be played, go for it.

Jazz it up. Do that full blown "My Favorite Things" they started all those years ago and Derek
does now with his band. Play Miles' "Kind of Blue" or for sh!ts and grins Muddy Waters'
"Electric Mud" albums in entirety. Above all, have a blast.

Guest artists. Too many to list, but you know the usual suspects (again suspecting
Dickey won't be there).

Off to Wannee. This is usually done right, so not much to add here.

Summer tour. All Evening with. 3+ hours of pure unadulterated ABB.
Filmed and recorded to be released to thr fans who will undoubtably sccop
them up. Don't care about the setlists. We'll bitch about them next year as they happen.

Beacon/Tour compilations. Sort of a best of that fans can pick and choose from or just
give the band's ultimate setlist kind of thing. Again, costs be DAMNED! We'll buy them
and make it worth it (works for WSP and the new Dead Road Trips series).

And finally, at every show, a TROLL bashing booth. Whether it be a water dunk or a
whack a troll game, who cares. Someone can submit a list of trolls and oh the fun
we can have. Again, costs be DAMNED!

alright, coffee's wearing off. feel free to add to this.

this might be a crazy idea, but what about a ABB Fan Fest somewhere near the Beacon? Vendors, tapers, the best tribute bands playing (maybe that Troll tank too LOL) meet and greets with past and present members of the band...again, pie in the sky, but what the hell....

I think filming the Beacon Shows and making a DVD with the shows AND some great doumentary-type stuff about the history of the band, old interviews, etc would be great!

The Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "Running Down a Dream" DVD/CD set celebrating their 30th is fantastic!!! Imagine a great set like that with a DVD containing interviews of the band from as far back as can be found, some story telling from Gregg, Butch, Jaimoe, etc then the 40th anniv, concert(s), add in a CD of previously unreleased or rare tracks....wow.

The cover of the box set could have a hologram that changes from a pic of Duane, Berry, Gregg and the band to a pic of Derek, Warren, Gregg, etc as you move the box from side to side....(cheesy, or cool? )

Only if it comes with a whack-a-troll game

Sounds great...especially the TRoll-whacking part! There has been so many Trolls around here lately that I am already getting prepared to to do my part.

You know it would be absolutely incredible if they could professionally record the entire Beacon run for distribution. I know that has been inpossible in the past due to Clear-channel venue red tape and other union issues etc etc etc...BUT, that would be a dream come true. They would sell very very well...obviously.

Now my question is "Who is getting the seats directly behind Bill Walton at The Beacon???" I was pretty close to him in 2006, damn he's tall. THey could hire him to clean the ceilings for the renovations. No ladder needed...LOL!

The only way I want them to film the whole Beacon run is if they can doo it without too many cameras and equipment in the theatre ruining the ambience.

Invite Dickey's band to play Wanee.

Play some of the smaller venues that they played during the Duane era.
