I just received my copy of the show today. Sure is one smoking show. No JaMaBu on the show. Chuck Leavell and Susan Tedeschi guest on it. If you are going to by a live show this is definitely the show to get.

I dig it the most.

Derek on "Into the Mystic" is amazing. He handles the horn parts masterfully.
Great version of "Gilded Splinters" both Warren and Derek smoke this one.
Chuck tears up Jessica.

This show and the West's best set are the 2007 shows I bought.

I've commented before about this, but I've listened to two different
copies now, and both of them are marred by a drum mixed ABOVE
everything else.

It's really annoying to listen to in the car.
Two examples, "Rocking Horse" and "Trouble No More"

In low volume settings, I can deal, but sometimes you want to
crank it and I simply can't. It's like the toms settings were too high.

And this is the HTN "remaster"

But I will agree, it is a great show

This is a darn good show.

Doesn't Gregg mispronounce Chuck's name? Or have is it the correct way?

i think he was being funny. almost in reference to Sea Level.

great show. jessica smokes. the licks coming into The Weight are tasty. really a flawless performance, minus great cutting off derek as he goes into the slide solo on dreams. that would have made the night over the top.

It is a shame Derek didn't get to play slide on Dreams. I was there, and I was getting ready for a "Hendrix Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock" moment when it got cut short. On the other hand, those versions of The Weight and Jessica are as good as it gets, so if they needed to cut Dreams short to get to those, I can live with that.

Hard to believe that somebody recently posted on this website that they left this show halfway through because they thought it was boring!

The other 49,999 of us thought it was a damn good show

No, I'm not, I think it was on the "Allmans are a shell of their former selves" thread.

I guess he has a right to his opinion, but that is pushing the envelope of opinion validity

THAT'S INCREDIBLE! Well it's probably someone who values the entertainment in something like a Britney Spears show. - Anyway, I do agree the show is incredible and I get the chills in just about every song on those discs (I was not at the show), but the thing that blows my mind more is I don't even think it makes my top 10 shows! (Believe me that's not a critisim of the show, but a compliment to how good this band really is)

I have heard estimates in the 40,000 range. All I can say is that it was the single largest crowd I have ever seen at the Gentilly Stage. It was an absolute mob-scene. Certainly an all-time classic Allman's experience and a top top top notch performance. Jazzfest organizer guru Quint Davis' commentary was equally classic - "Gregg Allman and his band of brothers", "Still undefeated heavyweight champions of the world, the Allman Brothers", "It just will not get any better than this", etc. Great stuff.

I noticed that too. Anyone know what happened? Did they just decide to do a shorter version for some reason (maybe a curfew or something), or did Gregg get confused and mistakenly come it at the wrong time?

(I DONT mean that as a slam. Its no big deal...Greggs human and we all make mistakes sometimes)

I had been in New Orleans for right at a year at that point, only leaving a couple of times for an overnight trip. My spirits were not in the best of shape, and I can tell you that the Allman Brothers gave me the lift I needed to keep me sane that day.

I remember the announcer saying that was the biggest crowd to ever see a show at the Gentilly Stage.

And I'll never forget that Jessica!

Yep, a great show. The energy of Every Hungry Woman is unreal, one of the best versions I've ever heard of that song. Everything played was outstanding. Gustav, stay away from Nola, ya hear?

I have a friend who went to high school with Chuck. He told me that Chuck used to pronounce his name LEVEL and that is where Sea LEVEL came from. Apparently he changed the pronunciation to have an accent on the second syllable. Can anyone confirm?
