Northerly Island is a bit out of the way. Drinks there are pricey, too. Anyone wanna meet up pre-show? Where? When?

My favorite venue in Chicago during the summertime......its fantastic. I saw Umphrey's there earlier this year and the beers weren't too bad....$10 for a 24oz can isn't the best, but its delicious.

And yes I'll be there......with bells on.

What is around Roosevelt and Michigan that we can have a beer and a burger? That would be a good starting point location. Otherwise, I'm probably going to get downtown early, grab a sandwhich and cold beverage or two at Giordano's on Lake St, and take a stroll through Millenium Park. Then hoof it or cab it over to Northerly Island. But I'm open to suggestions.

P.S.......If you're planning to pick up your tickets at Willcall......get there really early, the Willcall situation at the venue is the only thing about it that really sucks.....my littler brother no joke waited in line for 45 minutes. Very unorganized.

I found a place called Tavern At the Park on the north side of Millenium Park (130 E Randolph). Julie, I know you're not afraid to walk a mile or so.

There's Kitty O'Shea's in the Hilton (720 South Michigan). I'm checking with a buddy about places near Roosevelt and Michigan.

Just saw an add for the show during the Cubs- Pirates game. They played Ramblin Man during the promo. Can't wait to hear them play that song!!! Just kidding.

I will be there - probably hit Greektown early and then drive on over....

I haven't been there, is there a place we could meet inside before the show? (or during RatDog)

Also a little worried about the weather - they are calling for rain Thursday night.....I'm guessing they don't allow umbrellas?

I will be there with my brother and one of my sons......

There's an Irish pub at 14th and Michigan that I'll probably hit before the show. If you are taking the blue line into the city, I would transfer to either the Red Line or Orange Line and get off at Roosevelt. Check out http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/ to plan your trip. Choose Northerly Island Park as your destination.

Haven't been there, but this is what I can see or have been told....

No roof. Holds about 7,000.

Seating on main level is folding chairs, and no slope - so plan on standing (I'm sure you will anyway).

Grandstands along the back that are raised (I am straight back near the top of the grandstand)

Check out the link - they have a feature where you can see the view from your seat (although it is animated, not real).

Hope to see you there!

For those driving:

Parking is available at the Soldier Field North Garage ('North Garage') and at the Adler Planetarium Lot.

The price for parking at the Soldier Field North Garage is included in the price of your ticket. The entrance is located along Museum Campus Drive, before the stop sign at McFetridge Drive. Free trolleys are available to transport patrons who park at the North Garage to the Pavilion. The trolleys stage outside the pedestrian entrance/exit to the garage at McFetridge Drive. These trolleys will also be available at the end of the evening to return patrons to the garage (they will not take patrons downtown).

VIP parking at the Adler Planetarium Lot is available for $30.00.

From the grandstands in back you can watch the sun set over the Chicago skyline. Pretty sweet.

More info:

During the summer 2008 concert season, the City of Chicago is working on a Lakefront Trail project that will affect two main routes to and from the concert grounds: Solidarity Drive and Museum Campus Drive.

Throughout the construction, lanes on both roadways will be reduced, and some access points will be closed. Please allow ample time to get to the concert, and consider alternatives to driving, such as using public transportation, bicycling or walking.

VIP parking pass holders - Please access Museum Campus via 18th Street and have your VIP parking pass on your dashboard so the Traffic Aids can direct you to the VIP parking at the Adler Planetarium.

Other parkers -There will be no parking at the Adler Planetarium or along Solidarity Drive. All parking will be directed to Soldier Field.

For more information on the construction work and traffic impacts, visit
www.cityofchicago.org/

The venue looks great. Nice change of pace from the Rosemont Theater the last few years, provided the wheather holds out. Sang, good to know I'll have a companion during the first set. See you all tomorrow.

The past few shows I've been to at Northerly Island, the group has said lets meet right to the left of the soundboard.....it works out well too, very easy to find. That would be a good place for the meeting of the minds.

I'll be the guy wearing the Hanson shirt.
